Housewares from IYE

In Your Element is a super-cool store, and I was perusing their site recently and a few items caught my eye. I just love the heat-resistant mugs with the grid pattern.

They also have some beautiful porcelain mugs and serving sets with modern designs and beautiful color schemes.
Architectural Pottery

As the summer winds down, I start thinking about next year’s gardening plans. I just love Vessel’s Architectural Pottery. They have such beautiful, modern shapes and sizes that really enhance a plant’s beauty.
An Updated Classic

Fluidium is an updated design for a classic: the lava lamp. So, even if you’re not going for that seventies look, but love that era, you can still have a stylish piece that fits right in with your modern decor.
New from DWR

The Cox chair has beautiful lines and is casual enough for any space. I love this Ball pendant lamp - This would look so nice in an entryway.
I don’t use my fireplace, but if I did, I’d get the Vision steel wood holder. The Alessi handheld vacuum makes the old standby DirtDevil just lame.
Rings and More Rings!

The Carrotbox has the most amazing selection of non-metal rings I have ever seen. I love big, chunky rings because I think they really accent a simple outfit. The site also offers some interesting facts about non-metal jewelry, and features an incredible blog.
If you have no room left to store all your rings after going nuts at The Carrotbox, here’s a cool option from Duende:

Wet Pot Systems

The Wet Pot System may just be my savior. I really don’t have much of a green thumb, so having this option is extremely helpful to me. Actually, it boosts my self esteem to think I can actually keep a plant alive for more then a week! Here is how they describe their system: “The supply of water is regulated by the unique, natural characteristics of clay for water absorption, which is controlled by a specially formulate glaze, which partially covers the clay pot. The plant draws the water it needs through the pot.”
Line Chaise

This chaise from Horm is so beautiful and sleek, I would almost just stare at it rather than actually use it. It looks so peaceful and graceful; I can see why it is called the “Line” chaise.
Lana Horizontal Cabinet

This cabinet from Diologica is something a little different: the doors have tufted upholstery. I have never seen anything like this before, and I kinda dig it.
Wood Vases

These found wood vases from The Well Dressed Home are made from dead or fallen trees in Vietnam. They contain no staining, so you can really see the unaltered natural beauty of the wood.
DESU Design

DESU Design began as a small architectural metals shop and is now an innovative design studio. I just love the modern, clean lines of their furniture and acessories. I fell in love with the sofa bench, which has a nifty storage compartment built into it.
Also, check out these tealight holders with the option of lantern-style suspension holder or tall floor holders. The geometric lines and industrial design really make these pieces unique.

Chelsea the BirdNerd

Chelsea is one of my friends on Flickr, and I love when she uploads new art. Her works are beyond description. Her detailed birds consist of mixed media, including paper, wallpaper, ink, and acrylic. This is my favorite statement of hers: “I make paintings of birds because I think they’re awesome.” Yeah, I totally agree and I see no need for elaborating. You can purchase her works at her Etsy shop here.
Umbrella Light

This Pablo umbrella light from Modern Essentials reminds me of a photo-shoot. It’s just so interesting, I couldn’t resist blogging it. I’m just not sure how much bad luck you might get using this indoors!
Tooth Stool

I just love this. I’m not quite sure who would purchase this type of item [dentists?]. Nevertheless, it’s adorable, unique, and shapely. It was designed by Philippe Starck and is available from Rotational Design.
Artist-Designed Wallpaper/Stickers

Available from Rollout, these wallpapers are more unique than any I have seen yet. They are all artist-designed. My personal favorite is the chat bubbles design, called “Words Spoken Quieter than Actions,” designed by Chloe Perron.

Asian Style from Red Egg
OK, take an antique, Asian-style piece of furniture and refashion it with some bright, modern paint. That’s Red Egg. I just love their color choices - so bold and refreshing, yet modern. I love the idea of marrying old and new.

Items from Red Egg can be purchased in small home furnishings boutiques and in department stores, such as Neiman Marcus.

Separated at Birth

Remember this humidifier I blogged about here?
Well, check out this FM radio from the MoMA Store. Similar? But they’re oh so cute.

Das Moebel for Kids

I don’t have children, but if I did, this piece would be a serious consideration. Who wouldn’t want a foldable bassinet that converts into a toybox? What a great multifunctional use of materials. Available here.

Anemone Ring

I love the color and shape of this ring. It is available at MoMA and is made of Venetian Murano glass.
