See You Next Year!

Torrey Pines State Reserve

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading my blog over the past year. There have been lots of exciting designs, art, and products that I’ve enjoyed writing about, and I have made friends with lots of great new people. Even more exciting has been the launch of my store, Vitamin D(esign), of which I am truly proud, because I get to work with some of my favorite artists and designers. I’m not quite sure where things will go in 2008, but I am looking forward to seeing some of the prototypes of 2007 emerge into production, new trends in earth-friendly products (beyond reusable bags), and interesting technological innovations.

From all of us here at DM: Jaime, Jordan, Lulu, & Beans, we hope that you have a fantastic New Year. We will be back in full swing on January 2nd.

Cork Cuff

Oh how I love simple designs.

Volf Design

This is one totally eye-candilicious website. I’m sitting here waiting for my cookies to be done baking and I’m on sensory overload.

This storage piece with a zipper is just an amazing design. Who would have thought to do it that way?

Fruit Bowl-Plate

It’s a bowl and a plate for your fruit. The wood and silver is a more formal look than the traditional fruit basket. This would make a simple, yet elegant centerpiece with anything in it: apples, pinecones, whatever. You could change it based on the time of year. The bowl itself is timeless.

Bathroom Zen

This tissue box is so simple and zen that it makes me immediately feel relaxed. The cute little hole also shows you when you need to refill!

Salt and Pepper Amoebas

The Amoeba condiment set is a fluid design and will serve as for + function on your holiday table.

Meritalia Table

I love this table because the table legs look like a person (if people had 3 legs).

Sitar Chair

Say hello to the Sitar chair. What a beauty.

Aili Schmeltz

I am dying over Aili Schmeltz’s drawings and paintings. The abstract landscape is something I am really into lately, even in my own work.

Patchwork Blanket

It’s chilly here in San Diego, believe it or not. I’ve been craving some sort of blanket to snuggle with on the sofa.

Ooh and Aah

Two very different chandeliers to make you say “oohh! aaahh!”

Soho Modular Bedroom Set

I really dig this bedroom set because it is so customizable. It also has a hint of bachelor-ness which makes it great for a modern urban bedroom.

Hilary Williams

I’m in love with these pieces from Hilary Williams because I am currently missing the gritty city life of the East Coast. Can’t wait to go home for the Holidays!

Opus Sideboards

The simplicity of these sideboards might make them almost disappear into the wall. That’s not such a bad thing depending on what you’re using it for.

Bird Napkins

Yes, bird napkins. You need these if you are guilty of “paper-towel-as-napkin” syndrome.

Holiday Wish #2 Comes True!

The other day, Mr. Design Milk surprised me with my Holiday Wish #2: 2 Cereal-on-the-gos!

Today was the first day I had a chance to use one of them and I thought it was important to report my findings. OK, these things are all I dreamed of and more! Now, I can indulge in my love for cereal in the morning at my desk. It’s the little things that make me happy. The milk stayed very cold, there were no spills or leakage, and the spoon works just fine.

These are new over at Unica Home, and they really got my attention, so I though I’d share.
