Naomi Ryder

Naomi Ryder is an illustrator who specializes in embroidery. I had no idea this type of art existed! I’m glad that I found out. She is currently exhibiting in London. Here is a bit of info about her latest exhibit:
“Textile designer and illustrator Naomi Ryder will be exhibiting her latest embroidered curtains at the Jubilee Window Gallery in Canary Wharf’s Retail Mall from 4 to 29 May.
These three panels of silk chiffon are delicately embroidered with line drawings inspired by everyday life. Naomi captures a woman’s daily routine by creating a visual narrative based around the day in the life of a friend. Images show her climbing out of bed, getting dressed, washing, putting her make up and follow her throughout the day - from going to work, to coming home, to doing the cleaning. Naomi takes these simple moments in time, that we take for granted, and captures their ephemeral beauty on each fabric panel.”
Horn Tooting
I don’t like to toot my own horn, but I finished my first large painting this past weekend, called “Discovery”, and I finally got around to taking a (crappy) photo of it. My apologies for the quality, but my camera is broken so I had to take the photo with my iphone. I’m including a progress photo (on right) too so you can more clearly see the colors.
Kathryn Van Dyke

I love this painting by Kathryn Van Dyke, and loved it even more when I saw the title: “Crumpled Wad of Paper Floating Thru the Air - Flying Feeling Form”.
