Piles by ÖRNDUVALD

The Copenhagen Metro transit company is working on expanding their underground lines through 2018 and because of that, fenced -in construction zones are popping up around the city. To offset the unattractive quality of the fencing, they began a project, entitled ‘Byens Hegn – Cool Construction’, for creatives to make them over.

Trained architects, Pétur Örn Eyjólfsson and Søren Oskar Duvald who make up ÖRNDUVALD, were chosen to display their proposed project called Piles. Piles consists of three designs, soil, water, and rubble, that are made up of 45,548 round “pixels” in nine different colors, that represent the vast amounts of these elements that are excavated for a new metro system.
