Hang It: Wooden Shoes by Tal Weinreb

Young Israeli shoe designer, Tal Weinreb, created Hang it as part of a graduation project from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Weinreb was inspired after observing how the Shakers store their unused furniture on the walls. Looking into storage methods, the Hang it Wooden shoes project was born. When not in use, the wooden shoes hang on the wall in segments. When you need shoes, remove the pieces and assemble them into a wearable pair.

The simplicity of the materials speaks to the Shakers’ world, which juxtaposes the use of advanced manufacturing techniques, like casting, 3D printing, welding, and CNC routing. The shoes are made from walnut, gold-coated brass, and silver, and look like sculptures on your feet or walls.
