Subjectivity of Design by Vytautas Gecas

Recent Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Vytautas Gečas completed a graduate project called Subjectivity of Design that takes a look at “subjectivity as a value” when it comes to design. Taking existing archetypal objects, like a table or cupboard, he re-imagined them by keeping in mind what he thought each of those objects would want to be.

From the designer:

What is the value of subjectivity? What part does it take in design? What is selfishness? How influential is it – or should be – on a designer?

The bottom line is: we’re all individuals, differing from each person with our temperament, talents, dispositions, etc., with the duty for each of us to live up to our potential. Then Gečas chose to ask, “Can this also be true for designed objects?”
