CR45: A Cantilevered Chair by Many Hands Design

Josef Lang, of Many Hands Design, crafted a cantilevered chair, named CR45, constructed from high carbon steel and sash cord. Both the name and design were inspired by a cantilevered rod (CR), which is the most striking characteristic of the chair. The 45 references the country code for calling Denmark, where the original prototype was designed.

Lang wanted to steer clear of the typical thicker lines seen in most cantilevered chairs due to them being made from hollow tubing, and managed to achieve an elegantly thin frame.

The sash cord, which transfers the weight to the frame, has a nylon cord for strength and a woven cotton exterior for comfort.

Lang is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to help get the chair into production.
