Luum Creates Lighting and Installations That Spark Imagination

Not all lighting is created equally, so when a new studio comes along whose approach on the matter is modern, different, and playful, it’s an exciting discovery.

Luum is a London-based lighting design studio founded by Andrew Watson (director of Heathfield & Co.) and Chris Fox (original designer/creative director of Luum). Since its launch at Euroluce 2015, the studio has created an array of contemporary lighting designs that do more than just brighten a room – they invoke imagination. They are part sculpture and part light. Made from various materials such as hand-blown glass, metal, wood, and ceramic, Luum recreates forms found outside the home, like raindrops, leaves, and pollen, and brings them inside.

Luum also specializes in bespoke lighting installations. Here are a few of our favorites:

Luum-Lightspeed

Lightspeed is a series of internally lit glass tubes that are arranged in a way to convey movement.

Luum-Cloud

Cloud is an abstract take on the naturally-occurring mass and is lit with lights that diffuse through layers of acrylic sheets.
