Los Angeles based This Is Ground has been in the business of sophisticated and fashionable tech organization since 2013, elevating the technologist’s game ever since their first Cord Taco (still amongst our favorite affordable gift picks). TIG founder Mike Macadaan and gang have continued to expand upon the guiding premise device, cord, and peripheral organization could look and operate on equal – pardon the pun – ground.
Their latest offering is the TSA-approved Venture Backpack, a design incorporating a “tray” built for use with any 15″ or smaller laptop. It’s an ingenious detail which allows travelers to keep computers in the pack while passing through security screening, thus incrementally reducing the hassle of travel with every visit to an airport.
Once opened, the vegetable tanned Italian leather backpack reveals a plethora of pockets and strap holders for “stylus, large headphones, power adapter, phone, eyewear, wallet, cords, rechargeable battery, tracker, pens, and pencils”, alongside any phone, tablet, or laptop. Even a serial overpacker like myself would be well satiated by the storage options inside, but nobody would know, thanks to the modern-minimally designed exterior which now tops our list of most desirable laptop backpacks in an ever-growing and competitive field.
This Is Ground’s also offers the option to add WiFi using Karma, the small pocket-sized internet hotspot; open up the backpack’s front storage and there’s a sleeved holder designed just to hold the device securely in place, while an included Tile Bluetooth tracker adds another layer of security.
For those looking for something with a little more room for weekend work/play escapes, the Venture has also been available in a very sophisticated and timeless looking Weekender edition. Either version should appease the upper tier requirements for fashion and function in situations where the schedule of work and play might blur (our modus operandi).
Both the Venture Backpack and Venture Weekender are available for purchase at This Is Ground.
