Furniture designer David Ericsson designed an easy chair that focuses on his appreciation of wood as a material and all it can do. The sculptural Hedwig, designed for Swedish manufacturer Gärsnäs, was created as a way to honor his wife, who enjoys reading and drinking tea, with a comfortable and enjoyable place to sit.
Prominent features of the chair are the mini circular tables on each armrest that are designed to hold a drink, or for his wife, a cup of tea. Another way the chair pays homage to her – he named it Hedwig as that’s the name she wanted to be called as a young child.
The chair’s frame is made of solid natural beech wood with the seat and backrest covered in either a vegetable tanned leather in various colors, or natural, black, light brown, or natural canvas. Hedwig is also available with seat and back cushions.
