OBLIO: A Mirror Turned Lamp, a Lamp Turned Mirror

Is it a mirror, a lamp, or both? Gio Tirotto designed OBLIO as a crossover piece that falls somewhere in between art and design. The fixture, created for Secondome Gallery, has an arched brace that holds a mirrored disk with an embedded LED light around its perimeter. The disk pivots to different angles, changing how it looks and functions with Tirotto asking the questions, “What’s the use for an unlit lamp?” and “What’s the use for a mirror in the dark?” His response? “None.”

OBLIO was presented during the 7th edition of the independent design fair, Operae, which was curated by Annalisa Rosso.
