Remember those Facebook offices by Studio O+A? Although Facebook has since moved to a new compound, Aol must have really liked the look because they recently hired Studio O+A to design their new offices in Silicon Valley. I applaud Aol for making the effort to become a “hip” company and I think the offices are very well done. I like the use of oriented strand board (OSB) in the design – it’s not overwhelming and works well with the brightly-colored furniture. Also, they used my favorite Maharam fabric on the chairs in the lobby – a design by artist Sarah Morris.

…and not even one of those pesky EXIT signs in sight! Missing or just judicial use of photography? And does all that beautiful OSB wall finish meet Code finish ratings?

These offices are a creative’s dream, job well done I say. Great balance between function and fun.

What do AOL even do these days? And how can they afford these offices? Oh yea, Time Warner sold themselves down the river to merge with AOL way back when. Must be some left over billions from that stroke of genius deal.
