Oh that's nice. Tesla isn't a brand that is popular here in the US but those are some seriously cool looking cars. Thanks! This post is so old - it's funny how people still come back to it and post comments. I haven't been looking for a new car in years, and I'm knocking on wood we don't have to buy a new one any time soon!

Did you see the Tesla S? I have never been exited about a car - I drive a Subaru Forester on natural gas from 2000. But this fully electric car is both a great design as it is innovative. Check www.teslamotors.com/models/

Mazdas are great cars. Did you get a Mazda 3? Great cars.

Mazzaj is correct. The manufacturing process and disposal of 200lbs of batteries is extremely harmful. The process to strip mine the materials in Canada, refine in China, manufacture in Japan and come back to North America is extremely earth unfriendly. Plus a hybrid also has a conventional 4 cyl engine. So the same process as any other car is additional to the electric engine. Then to properly recycle these materials is also very toxic. Most of the materials cannot be reclaimed.

In my opinion, a car should only have an efficient gas engine, an electric only engine, a diesel engine, but not a combination of two of these.

Update: since this post was back in 2006, I ended up with a used Mazda and I love it. My next car won't be any time soon *knocks on wood*

You do realise in actual fact those are two of the worst offending cars on the road due to their manufacture process and in actual fact a hummer is more environmentally friendly, If you want a truly green car buy a smart
