Did you get a Mazda 3? Great cars. Mazzaj is correct. The manufacturing process and disposal of 200lbs of batteries is extremely harmful. The process to strip mine the materials in Canada, refine in China, manufacture in Japan and come back to North America is extremely earth unfriendly. Plus a hybrid also has a conventional 4 cyl engine. So the same process as any other car is additional to the electric engine. Then to properly recycle these materials is also very toxic. Most of the materials cannot be reclaimed. In my opinion, a car should only have an efficient gas engine, an electric only engine, a diesel engine, but not a combination of two of these. Mazdas are great cars. Did you get a Mazda 3? Great cars.
