I would do “Great Hopes and Massive Failures” as I am a bit dramatic as I set myself up for achievements in life. This would be a fantastic way to self-track that neuroticism.
Mars on 07.19.2010 at 09:33 AM
I would rather choose “It will be fun, I swear” – very simple, positive and energetic.
lindsey k on 07.19.2010 at 09:34 AM
I think I would go with “A day in the life”
david renó on 07.19.2010 at 09:35 AM
“And then there was none”
because none is what there got.
brad on 07.19.2010 at 09:38 AM
Oooh this is good. I would totally pick revenge. What I’ll do is build a catalog of passive(and maybe not so passive) aggressive acts of revenge. I love sketchbooks I can’t wait to see the results of this show.
elvin on 07.19.2010 at 09:39 AM
I think i’d go with “Who I could and want to be”, simply exploring my opportunities and dreams
Ali Turner on 07.19.2010 at 09:42 AM
I’d choose nightmare. I guess it harks back to those days of staying up late and watching Nightmare on Elm Street, the MA dissertation on horror movies and the fact that the only piece of art I’ve ever wanted enough to spend a fortune on was a scribble-styled zombie house typographical thing. Nothing could be more creative or offer such freedom as a nightmare.
Bridgette on 07.19.2010 at 09:49 AM
I would pick In Flight. I am obsessed with bees right now and would love to follow the life of a bee as it buzzes from flower to flower.
Chris on 07.19.2010 at 09:55 AM
Things that changed other things!
grace on 07.19.2010 at 09:55 AM
“A record year for rainfall”, for sure. I’d pick a news headline a day as my starting point.
Melissa on 07.19.2010 at 09:56 AM
I would choose A day in the life…
Ryan on 07.19.2010 at 09:59 AM
I would pick “Things found on restaurant napkins”, because there is a sense of mystery and intimacy in the doodlings/ remarks/ ideas on a napkin…there is something refreshing about inspiration that can not be contained, restrained or patiently filed away for later.
Jenna on 07.19.2010 at 10:04 AM
I would pick, “It will be fun, I swear” and then everything would be about random situations where people would need to use that particular phrase.
Nicole Franczvai on 07.19.2010 at 10:08 AM
I would pick the transforming the human body. Yup. That’s what I would pick. Yes indeed.
Natalia on 07.19.2010 at 10:13 AM
I would pick “Facing Forward”, because this project would help me move forward in creativity and self development.
Another Aaron on 07.19.2010 at 10:17 AM
“Make mine a double…”
I do a lot of my sketching sitting in bars on lazy afternoons – I’d fill the sketchbook with all the cranky old men who get upset when I start sketching them.
AMPEDart on 07.19.2010 at 10:26 AM
I would pick “Sorry I forgot You” because honestly, I forget everything! I forget to bring my sketchbook, I forget to return phone calls… story of my life… ought to be illustrated in sketchbook form, to see just how many thing I DO forget during the course of a day!
davo on 07.19.2010 at 10:40 AM
i would do “a drawing a day keeps the demons away”
Luke on 07.19.2010 at 10:41 AM
oh I would choose “make mine a double” It’s so vague it leaves endless possibilities. Is it a question of indulgence or dependency? What about the things you do alone vs as a couple or just in pairs? hmmm
Mija on 07.19.2010 at 11:11 AM
I would probably pick – Things found on restaurant napkins. Having worked a graveyard shift at a pub, I’ve seen many odd and random things on napkins!
Tatiana on 07.19.2010 at 11:24 AM
“If you were here…” since I’m homesteading on Arizona wilderness land, me, hubby, goats, llamas, cats and dogs, oh my!
Scott on 07.19.2010 at 11:32 AM
I’m sorry I forgot you… Because paying penance for my mistakes always involves creating something special for those I’ve wronged.
Ken on 07.19.2010 at 12:14 PM
Word animals.
melissa on 07.19.2010 at 12:28 PM
Here’s my pick: Things found on restaurant napkins. What better excuse to have more reasons to try more fantastic restaurants and create a narrative about the remnants you find.
Kat on 07.19.2010 at 12:33 PM
Inclusionary Practices Through Images.
The way we communicate messages of inclusion.
What better way to show the importance of promoting inclusionary practices in our daily lives!!
Lauren on 07.19.2010 at 12:43 PM
I’d go with “the view from up here,” because I often feel more at home nestled among clouds than with my two feet on the ground.
Minna on 07.19.2010 at 12:56 PM
“Sleepless” sounds like an intriguing concept… or at least a more productive way to employ insomnia.
Tony on 07.19.2010 at 13:00 PM
I’ll be in Australia for a good part of that time, so I’ll vote for ‘If you lived here…’.
Liza on 07.19.2010 at 13:49 PM
I’d check the box “Choose a random theme for me.” Because motivation, inspiration, and life seemingly occur randomly.
Ernest on 07.19.2010 at 13:53 PM
This looks amazing! I’d have to go with Great Hopes and Massive Failures..
Analise on 07.19.2010 at 14:04 PM
Sleepless…. because some many things cross my mind in the hours it takes me to fall asleep.
Cindy on 07.19.2010 at 14:27 PM
I would pick “…you would be home by now” because I live a similar category called “a funny thing happened on the way home” which involves, lost keys, late clients, or a stuck bridge. Thank goodness for cell phones.
Jenn S. on 07.19.2010 at 14:50 PM
I would choose Things that changed other things..because it sometimes the smallest change makes the biggest difference.
Patti Midgett on 07.19.2010 at 15:10 PM
I would choose a day in the life. This theme I could explore and fill the sketchbook.I do plan on participating in this project.
Jaytee on 07.19.2010 at 15:13 PM
….ok….Sleepless….coz i hardly sleep….yep im tired all day everyday….but it brings out the best (and weirdest) stuff out of my mind.
Allison G. on 07.19.2010 at 16:11 PM
I would choose “First thing in the morning, last thing at night,” because I think it would be really fun to be disciplined and make time to create twice a day. I also think I do some of my best thinking first thing in the morning and at the end of the day before going to sleep.
Sheree Rensel on 07.19.2010 at 16:17 PM
“I MATTER” , that is my choice. I suggest this because it is what we all want. Everyone. Artists and all. We want someone in this Universe to realize we are here. We want acknowledgment of who we are. We want some kind of attention and recognition. Who wouldn’t want to stand on high and scream “I MATTER……..”
grubedoo on 07.19.2010 at 16:26 PM
I’d choose “random” b/c I’m indecisive.
Amanda on 07.19.2010 at 16:45 PM
I would choose “If you lived here…” and make it a very public love letter showcasing through drawing all of the things that I would do if that someone special lived where I live. I’m a very private person and probably should’ve said all of these things I’d draw long ago, but with the books on tour and online, it’d be pretty impossible not to then.
ana on 07.19.2010 at 17:13 PM
I’d love to give this a shot–sounds like a really interesting project!
My theme of choice would be “facing forward” since that’s been my person theme for the last year and for years to come–A reminder to always approach life, decisions, and feelings head-on whilst continually striving to do it gracefully.
victoria on 07.19.2010 at 17:20 PM
I would choose If you lived here because of our happy, fun, and always on the go home. Having 2 kids,2dogs, and a fat cat that keep me busy there is always something to draw from in our home
April on 07.19.2010 at 17:36 PM
I’d pick “If you lived here…” and I could draw our tiny house!
Frank on 07.19.2010 at 17:42 PM
I would choose \today\ as a theme. It would give the opportunity to either follow up on the stage my life is in at that moment in time or to reflect on a big regional/national/global subject of that moment. So every chance to make it matter. Personal or global. What more influence can I have?
Randy on 07.19.2010 at 17:48 PM
I would chose Figuring You out. And by “you” I mean “me.” Who am I, what do “I” mean, and “I” I really mean you. Figuring You out is really a journey into me.The real conversation that I don’t let you hear upon which I judge you is In my head with myself.
Jason Martin on 07.19.2010 at 18:21 PM
I would pick Lights in the Distance. I’m an optimist!
christopher h on 07.19.2010 at 18:51 PM

Grant on 07.19.2010 at 19:35 PM
We are all one in the great abyss
Jason on 07.19.2010 at 19:38 PM
I would select “The view from up here”.
Annie on 07.19.2010 at 20:38 PM
Trading Forever. When you ask someone what comes to mind when those two words are mentioned there is alwaya a reaction. What would you trade forever for? Have you been trading parts of yourself for what seems like forever? Trading forever could be your perfect dream job!!! See what I mean…what pops in your head (first 5 words). Thats why I chose that theme. It stirs so much good stuff up.
Jim on 07.19.2010 at 20:45 PM
“A day in the life” I think it would be interesting to do it from one of my dog’s point of view.
Chrissy on 07.19.2010 at 20:53 PM
I’d pick It’ll Be Fun, I Swear. Cuz it will be.
marybeth on 07.19.2010 at 21:31 PM
I like “I am sorry I forgot you”
Small Footprints on 07.19.2010 at 21:44 PM
I would choose “Face in the crowd” because, if I were lucky enough to win, I would give this to my hubby who is the artist in our family … he does amazing faces and human studies. What a fun giveaway!
kim on 07.19.2010 at 21:57 PM
oooh…the options are all cool, but I would definitely choose and personalize “things that change other things.” It’s mind boggling, the unforseeable ripple effect that any single influence or decision or event in your life can have in determining your future. The intrigue!
Art Ist on 07.19.2010 at 22:00 PM
I chose a day in the life because I like to sketch something new every day
Kat on 07.19.2010 at 22:26 PM
I would choose “make mine a double” because I just think about food all the time.
Piper on 07.19.2010 at 22:39 PM
I would choose “dirigibles and submersibles” because the words roll around on your tongue, and because both typically occupy space in my nighttime dreams.
Gina G. on 07.19.2010 at 22:47 PM
I would do “a day in the life” because… well, it seem like fun :)
sarah on 07.19.2010 at 23:09 PM
figuring you out! it’s one of my favorite pasttimes.
Hadley on 07.19.2010 at 23:32 PM
Mine would be for the kids, like me and my friends. i start second grade in the fall, and would either be all about star wars or an “alphabet of very bad things” (like edward gorey – my dad’s wordz)
C Curtis on 07.19.2010 at 23:37 PM
First thing in the morning, last thing at night. It’s personal, and everyone can relate.
Timothy on 07.20.2010 at 00:56 AM

Melissa on 07.20.2010 at 01:02 AM
nightmare
give the imagination a dark side to play with too
Keith on 07.20.2010 at 03:42 AM

Dawn on 07.20.2010 at 05:19 AM
I would choose First thing in the morning, last thing at night. Everyone thinks that first thing in the morning is dawn. For me it’s always Dawn even just before I go to bed!
zoe b. on 07.20.2010 at 06:46 AM
I’d choose “Figuring you out,” as I find sketching things tends to help me identify with them better. That, and the phrase seems to imply mystery.
Clare on 07.20.2010 at 07:12 AM
Face in the crowd. Because I can envision a very cute, romantic story through that.
Katy on 07.20.2010 at 07:19 AM
Jackets, blankets and sheets …. 3 of my favourite things !?
Courtney Doudna on 07.20.2010 at 08:07 AM
2011 Theme: “refuge of the imagination”
Leslie Dalton on 07.20.2010 at 08:11 AM
I would choose “Make Mine a Double!” for a couple reasons – I love twins and always wish I was part of a pair; it has been a slightly stressful summer, so a double shot of anything would be great right now! Plus, two is always better than one!
Karin on 07.20.2010 at 08:43 AM
I would choose “In flight” because I’m obsessed with traveling right now.
Bill Ritchotte on 07.20.2010 at 08:49 AM

life would have taken but for…
tarndiwear on 07.20.2010 at 09:11 AM
I would do “Nightmare” I am 23 years old and I still have one of those nights that freak me out. It would be something very personal and intreresting to to sketch about.
Annalisa on 07.20.2010 at 10:04 AM
A focus on beginnings.
Jill Marie on 07.20.2010 at 10:16 AM
Great contest! I would pick the theme “If you lived here…” since I think it would be great to fill a book of all sorts of random sketches regarding the day to day things you see in your own neighborhood, city, environment.
It would conjure up all sorts of great inspiration for people living all over the world. Personally I love being inspired by the vision of others…sure we all stop and smell the flowers but do we all see them the same? Nope!
Have fun with the contest!! I love your blog and would follow you anywhere! :)
Katie M. on 07.20.2010 at 10:47 AM
I’d pick \First thing in the morning, last thing at night\ because it would leave it open to either consider something different (or repeat studies of the same things) every day, twice.
Jody Lee on 07.20.2010 at 10:50 AM
I pick ‘if you lived here…’
Kim Wozniak on 07.20.2010 at 11:33 AM
…and then there was none………… because we are at a time that we must learn to protect and preserve.
Marlene on 07.20.2010 at 12:13 PM
Trading forever… there is no other choice for me than that, my heart sings and fingers ache to create just thinking about that theme, yummy!
Farron on 07.20.2010 at 13:02 PM
“Things found on restaurant napkins.” I like the idea of leaving notes and doodles around for strangers to find. I would turn my sketchbook into a compilation of random thoughts and images that I would love to find randomly on napkins.
Brandon on 07.20.2010 at 13:18 PM
I would probably pick “It will be fun, I swear” and focus mostly on Black Metal, unicorns/narwhals, Larry King, and forests. And maybe werewolves, too. It will be fun, I swear!
Alexa Whitehead on 07.20.2010 at 13:22 PM
I’d like A Day in the Life…I was always disappointed when I decided I didn’t believe in reincarnation.
Joyrok on 07.20.2010 at 13:51 PM
I would pick nighttime stories
I tell myself epic adventure stories every time I’m in bed to put me to sleep. I always start a new adventure and fall asleep before the ending. Hopefully with the book I could continue where I left off.
Michelle on 07.20.2010 at 14:11 PM
Fun idea!!! I would go with “a mermaid affair – celebration of water”, an arty choice to show off ways to have fun in, on and around water…as well as tantalize people into thinking about issues of water quality. Check out our live multi-media art exibits in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, soon to be posted as a virtual gallery as well. http://www.a-mermaid-affair.net
Tassos Papaioannou on 07.20.2010 at 15:30 PM
“A day in the life” because I love to draw slice of life illustration/comics. :D
Claire on 07.20.2010 at 16:20 PM
I would pick “A day in the life” because it has the potential to express every emotion and encapsulate the human experience all in one little book :)
Derrick on 07.20.2010 at 16:21 PM
I’d have to go with “A Day in the Life”. It would give me a good excuse to get the creative juices flowing on a daily basis… and it would give me something to do at work. :)
Julie on 07.20.2010 at 16:54 PM
I am eventually planning to enter this contest.. (!) I want to use the “If you lived here” theme. I’m from Detroit originally, and I’ve travelled extensively working on cruise ships… what I’ve discovered is that even though I’ve spent time in some amazing, exotic, gorgeous locations…. ah, you always bring a piece of home with you wherever you go.
So when I do my sketchbook, I plan to use the theme of finding home in wherever you are, as well as bringing that sense of place along with you. Being a gypsy can be confusing, but it makes for one hell of an interesting visual.
jennifer smith on 07.20.2010 at 17:59 PM
it will be fun, I swear
L. on 07.20.2010 at 18:56 PM

“Things found on restaurant napkins” – There are just so many possibilities!
hj mcnaron on 07.20.2010 at 19:50 PM

I love the idea of this project. Thanks for the link!!!
Kasey on 07.20.2010 at 20:08 PM
Ohh, what a great contest! I would choose “I’m sorry I forgot you” and fill it with memories from my childhood. :)
Anne D on 07.20.2010 at 20:16 PM
I’m going to go with, what’s on the menu today because my kids are forever asking me, what’s for dinner?
Tracie Eastman Perreault on 07.20.2010 at 21:10 PM
I’d also pick REVENGE.
It would give an opportunity to think about revenge & not feel guilty. :-) Sometimes a release is all we need.
meredeth on 07.20.2010 at 21:44 PM
well, i actually already have one (This is Not A Sketchbook) but if i could afford another one, it would definitely be And Then There Were None. it’s like, it could be mysterious, but maybe it’s completely benign. it could be just the disappearance of cookies, but what if it’s more Agatha Christie!
Annette D on 07.20.2010 at 22:37 PM
I would pick “Up in the Air”.
Stephanie on 07.20.2010 at 23:24 PM
I would choose “If you lived here…”. I finally feel very excited about where I am in life, not just physically, and I would want to explore that theme.
David on 07.21.2010 at 03:02 AM
Nighttime stories. it is a theme that i can already think of multiple compositions for so i think i could really run with it
m saunders on 07.21.2010 at 03:39 AM
Sounds like fun:) Would love to do a day in the life… with a group of elementary students this fall to introduce them to sketchbooks.
tomb on 07.21.2010 at 05:49 AM
I would chose looking forward, as I have recently made a commitment to “step up mu game” as an artist. THe concept of the sketchbook project plays perfectly into some of my goal.
tita on 07.21.2010 at 06:22 AM
“a day in the life” will do
simply to memorize my life in my favorite way
Erin on 07.21.2010 at 09:31 AM

Christina Pellett on 07.21.2010 at 11:24 AM

Gemma O Leary on 07.21.2010 at 15:02 PM
I aspire to fill each and every one of those notebooks. May the gods of randomness be with me.
Gemma O Leary on 07.21.2010 at 15:05 PM
oh man i forgot to say i would choose”‘looking forward “to filling the pages of my aspirations. Gods don’t fail me now.
Siobhan on 07.22.2010 at 00:30 AM
“If I lived here” would be my choice as I’ve recently moved to the country from the “big smoke” with frequent visits to Melbourne which is quite different from London.
Danielle on 07.22.2010 at 02:39 AM
I would choose “Nighttime Stories” because my sketches lack much light (heavy on media) but tend to involve lots of wimzy.
Either that or “Dirigibles and Submersibles” because I feel like that’s what Wes Anderson might choose and there’s not a whole lot I like more than the font Futura.
Jenny Worsley on 07.22.2010 at 04:10 AM
I would pick ‘nighttime stories’ It opens up a new world of possibilities. The realms of stories in the dark, the feeling of hearing something new, something scary. I love the idea that your sketchbook would play out like an old ghost tale, each turn of the page anticipation, surprise and excitement.
Benjamin on 07.22.2010 at 09:11 AM
I’d do “manufactured nature” where you’d show the natural world using manufactured products.
mineola on 07.22.2010 at 09:15 AM
Make Mine a Double- suitably cryptic!
Jose Shajar on 07.22.2010 at 09:16 AM

Trying to capture the beauty in the simple things in life.
Acknoledging the artist in everyone.
Natalie on 07.22.2010 at 09:19 AM
“If you lived here…” That is what I would choose. “If you lived here” you would get to see all the crazy things I see. “If you lived here” we could go to my favorite places and do my favorite things. Ya know, we would have a lot of fun together “if you lived here” sigh….
Nene on 07.22.2010 at 09:25 AM
I would choose “Monday Morning Faces”, because everybody knows Monday Morning is the highest human challenge.
Michael on 07.22.2010 at 09:26 AM
I would have a show themed “From Sketches and Final Products” highlighting the use of the sketchbook in fleshing out ideas put into larger and more refined work.
Heather Weaver on 07.22.2010 at 09:29 AM
If I were to enter I would choose the “Things found on restaurant napkins” theme. Drawing pictures on napkins is quite possibly my favorite medium of all time. I love to draw the people in the restaurant, or just draw a picture for whoever I’m with, whether it’s a romantic picture for my girlfriend or a picture of dinosaurs for my 6 year old cousin. The picture is always appreciated, and I’d love to fill a sketchbook full of those pictures.
Marina on 07.22.2010 at 09:30 AM
I’d do Nightmares as they can be really dramatic stories.
JonC on 07.22.2010 at 09:31 AM
I’d pick “… you’d be home by now”. The comic implications of all the stuff that can go awry, preventing you from getting home, are endless.
Jake Covert on 07.22.2010 at 09:31 AM
Dirigibles and submersibles
Erica on 07.22.2010 at 09:36 AM
\nothingness is\

Loring on 07.22.2010 at 09:39 AM
It Will Be Fun, I Swear. I think almost everybody has been told that one at least once.
Elise on 07.22.2010 at 09:48 AM
My theme would be “the farm.” I’m a city girl married to a farmer’s son.
Sharon on 07.22.2010 at 09:49 AM

Jocelyn on 07.22.2010 at 10:14 AM
I would chose “The View From Up Here”. I am pregnant with my second child and chase afer a two year old. I feel like everything I do is from up above and looking down at a toddler/infant perspective.
Liza Fe on 07.22.2010 at 10:17 AM
Slices of Life would be my choice.
Adam on 07.22.2010 at 10:21 AM
I’d do dirigibles and submersibles. The things above and below us must have interesting insights into those of us in the middle.
Ron Tatum on 07.22.2010 at 10:33 AM
I will definitely go with the “Sleepless” theme. It has such versatility, as practically anything can happen during the hours that normal people are asleep. Plus, insomnia leads to some of the most interesting ideas of all!
katt on 07.22.2010 at 10:52 AM
I would pick “it must be..”. I want it to be a guess on famous architectural buildings. I love to draw architectural buildings and famous places when I travel and I want to appreciate the little details that were put into the work.
Katie Baird on 07.22.2010 at 10:55 AM
pretty sure i would have to pick “it’s raining dogs and cats” because i am a big fan of animals… and weather.
Sheena Custer on 07.22.2010 at 11:01 AM
I would totally choose “Sleepless” because some of the most creative ideas and situations occur during nights of unrest. It’s also open-ended enough for others to add their own flavors to the theme. Meaning, could being “Sleepless” bring thoughts of fear, inspire party time, or cause danger???
Megumi on 07.22.2010 at 11:04 AM
I would pick “It must be…” I can’t stop thinking the things must be different…
Jenna on 07.22.2010 at 12:04 PM
If you lived here…
Kendrick on 07.22.2010 at 12:07 PM
“The view from up here”
I’ve always enjoyed looking across views from high up.
erastos leiloglou on 07.22.2010 at 12:34 PM
I would choose sleepless… because my best ideas come in the middle of the night when I wish I could sleep less
Louis on 07.22.2010 at 12:43 PM
*Capture the flag* – that’s an objective in World Of Warcraft – I would unleash my creativity related to this topic
TV on 07.22.2010 at 12:48 PM
“in flight”, so that I might join my brain…
Meryl on 07.22.2010 at 12:55 PM
I would go with “Dirigibles and Submersibles”. I find these dualities to be quite interesting as I can imagine flying through water in different aircraft or submarines or even swimming in the air? hmmm…..
chau on 07.22.2010 at 13:07 PM
I would go with, “amateur day”
Willy on 07.22.2010 at 13:16 PM
Suicide kills.
David Parker on 07.22.2010 at 13:50 PM
I have been thinking lately of “Dreams vs. Reality.” There’s a city I visit regularly in my dreams, and I have yet to find its real-world equivalent.
Hilary Frambes on 07.22.2010 at 14:09 PM
I would choose “Make mine a double”….. I can think of many possibilities for that theme. Lots of doubles in nature as well as man made.
Jake on 07.22.2010 at 14:10 PM
i pick, ‘A Drawing a Day Keeps the Demons Away’ because I like to draw but struggle with creativity. I think that it would help me to learn to be more creative by forcing myself to create art by drawing something new everyday.
shayna on 07.22.2010 at 14:31 PM
the view from up here :)
Lauren W on 07.22.2010 at 16:03 PM
i would pick WATER.
we need it.
we use it.
it has multiple forms.
i love it.
Jessica on 07.22.2010 at 16:06 PM
I’d say sleepless. Because that’s usually how I am…
Monique Lopez on 07.22.2010 at 16:46 PM
I would pick “Facing Forward” and probably do some theme involving portraiture with a pinch of momentum.
Robyn on 07.22.2010 at 17:21 PM
I can’t decide! I would have it choose a random theme for me…
Justin Kyle on 07.22.2010 at 17:43 PM
“a record year for rainfall”
I would interpret this theme by recording inclemency of various nature. I would start with the paper and work my way in, to determine how to record what is unexpected but still beneficial.
Kevin on 07.22.2010 at 18:07 PM
“I’m sorry I forgot you”
seems to fit with the melancholy of the winter sketching period
Ceci Gomez on 07.22.2010 at 18:09 PM
Sustained Identities.
Andrea May Foht on 07.22.2010 at 18:18 PM
I would choose “im sorry I forgot about you” and draw pictures of sad cats and happy cats.
Scott on 07.22.2010 at 18:40 PM
I’m sorry I forgot you…
Rachel Higgs on 07.22.2010 at 19:20 PM
I choose “Capture the flag” because I am turning 40 next month and have finally decided life is short and I am going to live the rest of mine to its fullest
anika on 07.22.2010 at 19:44 PM
I’d go with “make mine a double”. I think it would be interesting to draw the same thing twice, perhaps from a different perspective or with a different medium.
meri stiles on 07.22.2010 at 19:50 PM
The theme I would pick is, “It will be fun, I swear”
because that is something I am often saying to friends. I could easily fill a sketchbook with adventures that start from that statement.
Kim H. on 07.22.2010 at 21:03 PM
It will be fun, I swear
Sounds like me and my daughter when we do something silly and goofy.
Although we both think my theme should be, “follow that guy, he knows where he’s going.”
Thanks so much for this giveaway! I love this site. I have a few of my own art journals, regular journals, and other specific journals.
Geoff K on 07.22.2010 at 22:55 PM
I really love the idea of the “things found on restaurant napkins” theme — it’s awesome to get a glimpse at others’ “relics” and try to get an idea of their thoughts and personalities through their random (or brilliant) scribblings and doodles, and it’s a perfect theme for a sketchbook for inspiration. Thanks!
kristina on 07.22.2010 at 23:37 PM
I would choose ‘it must be…’ because of the send of open-endedness, of possibility, in that phrase, and of hope.
Melissa on 07.23.2010 at 00:42 AM
I’d choose, “…you’d be home by now,” because it reminds me of that scene in Girl, Interrupted with Elizabeth Moss, and that makes me think of Mad Men, because Peggy Olsen is the Queen, and Peggy reminds me of Betty Draper and the scene where she’s in the backyard of her home and she shot the pigeons with the shot gun, and that was an incredible scene.
Jessica C. on 07.23.2010 at 00:59 AM
I’d love to have the theme of cats, because I’m a huge cat lover. I think it could be really fun and silly yet I could show a lot because cats are so emotional.
Lisa Backus on 07.23.2010 at 01:26 AM
The theme I would choose would have to be “Facing forward”.
This theme spoke to me the most because it made me think of looking forward towards the future. This is perfect for me since I have just graduated and am looking for a job and beginning the adventures of life :)
I have been wanting to take part in this project so badly because I love sketching so much. But, as typical of recent grads, I dont entirely have the funds right now so winning this prize would just put me on cloud 9!
Jessica on 07.23.2010 at 01:30 AM
I would choose “In Flight.” In about a month, I will leave my hometown to go to college in Montreal. I think this is a new chapter in my life. I feel like a young bird flying from the nest.
Gianna on 07.23.2010 at 02:08 AM
Nighttime stories because I get most of my stuff done at night.
Katrina on 07.23.2010 at 05:43 AM
I would pick “The view from up here”, because it would be the perfect place to put all the high aspirations I have
Jennie on 07.23.2010 at 07:19 AM
Mine would be ‘Talk to strangers on buses’ I feel we should be more open to talking to strangers, learning from others and opening our lives to the comments and stories of them. Who knows how a strange conversation could change or influence your life?
Jenni Matthews on 07.23.2010 at 07:57 AM
I would choose the theme “If you lived here…” because I live in Hong Kong and have since 2002, but my real home is in Queensland. People often ask me what it is like to live in HK and at first it is hard to answer, but then I think of all the things that are so different to living in Australia. Really I live in two places. My mind is often on a different place to the one I am really in.
michelle on 07.23.2010 at 08:54 AM
i would choose “Dirigibles and submersibles” :)
diana jones on 07.23.2010 at 09:30 AM
i would go with hope and joy. with hope and joy in your heart you can’t be dragged down by anyone or anything.
Yee on 07.23.2010 at 09:51 AM
Definitely “in flight” mentally or physically. Either one makes life better.
Emma on 07.23.2010 at 09:54 AM
It has to be great hopes and massive failures, I’m always filled with great hopes.
brandi on 07.23.2010 at 10:00 AM
I have been waffling about whether to get a sketchbook for the last month or so…so this is very exciting! ;)
I think I would choose the “If you lived here…” theme.
Kanella on 07.23.2010 at 10:38 AM
Things found on restaurant napkins … just because there is food involved!
MP on 07.23.2010 at 11:03 AM
I would choose “Great Expectations”
Eric on 07.23.2010 at 11:05 AM
I would choose \the view from up here\ because it may lend me to some interesting perspective, as I’m not very tall..
Elliott on 07.23.2010 at 11:08 AM
Sleepless. Most of my sketching happens at 4 in the morning.
Frances on 07.23.2010 at 11:09 AM
I’m going to choose dirigibles and submersibles ( but perhaps in the flavor of great hopes and massive failures) in an attempt to qualify the infinite thoughts that have to do with decision making and then standing by those decisions.
andy on 07.23.2010 at 11:10 AM
A day in the life!
Lyndsay on 07.23.2010 at 11:19 AM
The Color of New Worlds
jason white on 07.23.2010 at 11:56 AM
I would choose “i’m sorry i forgot you” as a theme. I will delve into the emo genre with a series of painful scenerios. Tortured, heart-broken souls, looking out and digging deep. The reader will hopefully rediscover that hidden pain they kept buried deep within themselves.
Ed on 07.23.2010 at 12:32 PM
Lights in the Distance, I like the title
Holly on 07.23.2010 at 13:13 PM
I would pick Things Found on Restaurant Napkins! It sounds awesome.
Ashleigh Alley on 07.23.2010 at 13:13 PM
I would like to go with the topic, “A Beautiful Existence” It would play on the good, the bad, the funny, the embarrassing in my everday life. It would be about where I’ve been, and where I’m going. What will happen ten years from now, twenty, or fifty? Will I be remembered? Regardless, no matter what happens, or how awful or great it can be, it will always be a ‘Beautiful Existence’, and I will make it count.
Veronica on 07.23.2010 at 13:30 PM
I would pick In Flight, and the entire book would be a comic strip series based around conversations I’ve had/imagined with strangers on airplanes.
David Hollingsworth on 07.23.2010 at 16:06 PM
“Great hopes and massive failures”, because I had hopes, and dreams, but they all crashing down right in front of me, and I still continue to have regrets.

Patrick on 07.23.2010 at 17:48 PM
I would go with “Revenge”, and then be really whimsical about it.
Jacob Warren on 07.23.2010 at 18:41 PM
I would choose ‘Lights in the distance’ because it has a mysterious and ominous depth to it…little bit of light but not without a darkness.
Jamie on 07.23.2010 at 18:51 PM
I would do make it a double, because I think it would be fun to draw 2 of something, and play around with mirroring and having a yin/yang appeal… also, i like making my whiskey a double =P
Lizzy on 07.23.2010 at 19:25 PM
I would go with “Make mine a double” … because after moving recently and trying to find a job, car and basically a new life, I have been using that line a lot lately.
Sarah B. on 07.23.2010 at 19:31 PM
I’d choose “a day in the life” because it’s fun to put everyday experiences into pictures!
Marisha on 07.23.2010 at 20:49 PM
I choose It will be fun, I swear.
I swear! I chose this to inspire me to be motivated to create.
Ellie on 07.23.2010 at 21:50 PM
Social justice, because we all need to strive for it.
Kim on 07.23.2010 at 23:47 PM
It must be…because I sketch with geometric patterns that eventually evolve into a complete image
Terri on 07.24.2010 at 01:07 AM
“It will be fun, I swear. . . ” How many great, spontaneous, crazy adventures/mishaps started with those words?! Thinking about it puts a sly, mischievous smile on my face. I could fill a (sketch)book with these stories.
hauptbahnhof on 07.24.2010 at 03:08 AM
‘a day in the life’ it shall be for me. this is a fantastic project btw, thanks for this collab giveaway and letting me know!
hauptbahnhof on 07.24.2010 at 03:11 AM
oh, and i’d pick that theme because i’m going to be hell famous and everyone would want to know what ‘a day in my life’ is like ;)
