Black Widow Table

black-widow-1

The Black Widow is a table inspired by speed, conceived with race car technology and materials, sharp-shaped, ever-moving. A central structural-carbon beam holds up the aluminum legs, derived and milled from a single piece of aluminum. The result is a table that matches innovative design and strong engineering contents. Aluminum and carbon mix together creating a complex architecture, a modern chassis that evokes race cars. Looking through the glass surface the structure is reminiscent of a black widow.

Black Widow originates from processing a piece of ergal of 200 kg through a CNC machine with 5-axis. The central carbon tube represents the black widow “spine.” This part (obtained layering several sheets of carbon till reaching the thickness of 8 mm) is made with the same technology used to build the masts of racing sailboats, in order to ensure a high load resistance.

At the end of the tube are screwed the advanced aluminum joints, result of complex engineering calculations, which allow to connect the carbon beam with the legs, to evenly distribute the loads on the structure. The upper part of the legs, screwed to the joint, is conceived as a frame, to which are fixed aluminum blades of 6 mm, covered with carbon plates to increase the mechanical strength. The bottom part is characterized by a complex adjustable aluminum foot, this also milled from a single piece. Adjustments are made with an Allen wrench supplied in the assembly kit.
