Dave Hakkens has created Breaksoap, a new soap concept that removes hand pumps from the equation.
Dave explains, “Most of the hand soap is replaced by soap pumps. However a lot of the soap pumps contain a lot of chemicals. The main reason why the hand pump was introduced is because it’s more hygienic and easier to use. I wanted to give the natural hand soap the same features so we could use the traditional soap again.”

Very cool looking, but doesn’t seem particularly hygienic, and perhaps a bit wasteful.

wasteful… that’s what i thought too… this piece could wash 10 pairs of hands…

it’s nice, but i don’t get it. what happen with the stick? you throw it away? it melts?

i agree with everyone, what happens with the leftover soap?

It’s almost certainly less wasteful than manufacturing liquid soap/pumps though. Soap is hygienic and effective enough, just scrub thoroughly and you’ll be safe.
It looks cool and I’d buy it.

No, you use the entire piece which you pull of, so u use up the whole soap and you was your hands long enough. That’s why there are different formats in the soap.

As a mother of a toddler, I get this immediately! This is far more hygienic than a pump and less messy and wasteful than a bar lying on the sink, melting all day. We do not use anti-bacterial products in the house (as no one should,) and most of the commercial pump soaps seem to love the triclosan. Can we purchase this yet?

I always thought bar soap wasn’t as good for you as liquid soap, although i prefer it.
I think the tiny bars are small enough to be used once. But what happens to the base? Its like a whole bar of soap! if this is manufactured, the base should become smaller, much smaller. or be made without the base, in some other clever dispensable packaging.
