Bridge House by 123DV

For a company that designs and builds modern villas, 123DV are spot on with the Bridge House located in the Dutch Achterhoek. The tree- and grass-filled landscape makes this glass-paneled villa a standout.

Built atop a raised manmade hill, the structure also has a cellar that is situated in a carved out section of the hill. The result makes the dwelling fit into the landscape without it appearing too massive, since part of the square footage appears underground.

17,000 new trees and 1,000 rhododendrons were planted on the land surrounding the home. (Who had to dig all of those holes?!)

The artificial hill, constructed of reused soil, was made to create better views.

To top the beautiful design of the house, they also made it completely self-sufficient, meaning the residents can go off the grid if necessary. There’s a private well for water, solar panels, re-used rainwater, and roof and floor heating that’s through thermal energy storage.

The glass panels are made from Heat Mirror glass that helps cool the home and keep excess heat out.

The overall design is simple and modern, with white walls and ceilings and white marble floors.
