Maison & Objet’s designers of the year 2012 are Humberto and Fernando Campana, originally from Brazil, Hubert le Gall from France and Tokujin Yoshioka of Japan.
To celebrate, each designer was given the opportunity to create an installation for the show. It was the Campana Brothers’ installation that really caught my eye.
They are known for their use of found and discarded objects and I loved they way they breathed new life into this cardboard; giving it an almost organic quality.
Being able to walk into the installation enabled you to view it from all angles and really interact with it.
They even paid attention to the ceiling, creating a completely enveloping experience…
It was a peaceful diversion from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the show and much enjoyed – well done to Maison for incorporating this change of pace into the show.
