CandleStacks by Victoria Delany

British designer/silversmith Victoria Delany introduced a brass version of her classic-meets-contemporary CandleStacks at the London Design Festival last week. A modern take on the sort of candlestick one might find on a table in New England, Delany lines the spindles of her creations with interchangeable, lacquered timber shapes reminiscent of the beads on an abacus.

If monochromatic is not your thing, Delany also lines the brass with tactile wooden shapes in primary hues, which she intermingles with pieces in natural finishes.  The top and base are fabricated from soldered spun metal components. The middle sections are made from turned wood in beech, ash, and poplar. The top of the CandleStack unscrews so you can rearrange the central sections, add new colors, and create new combinations at whim.

The silver CandleStacks, which debuted last year, are just as gorgeous. The silver CandleStacks are made to order and are £1800 per pair. The brass CandleStacks are more affordable, at £325 per pair. You can also commission your own color combos.
