I discovered this beautiful home by Cottam Hargrave over on BoConcept’s Facebook page. Located in Austin, Texas, this formative project was designed for the architect’s parents and has been recently updated. I like the way the ceiling is painted a robin’s egg blue in between the beams, and the same color has been accented on some exterior doors.

Built on top of a sloping terrain, Hill House, designed by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects, is a modern home where the geometry of the building separates the private and public spaces of the residence. Located in Kingsburg, Canada, the 1,700-square-foot home is situated on top of a hill that undergoes heavy winds and harsh weather.

Now that we’ve covered most of the Westside house tours, let’s explore the East. From Silver Lake to Echo Park to Mt. Washington, we’ll be seeing some of the most beautiful modern residences in the hippest areas of LA.

Code Architectural Design is a Japan-based architecture firm that knows how to create a dream home. Take Nakanosawa House as an example. Located in Sapporo, Japan, this beautiful home is actually segregated into two separate spaces for its inhabitants of two brothers and their wives.
This residence in Osprey, Florida is the vacation compound of a Minnesota family that consists of a bay house, main house, and beach house.
An interesting installation by Bureau Spectacular / Jimenez Lai, this rotating module was born from the idea that all surfaces — including ceilings and walls — could serve as functional space. The structure rotates once per hour, just like a clock in which every 15 minutes, one of the surfaces becomes parallel to the ground. Reminds me of a hamster wheel…
