A Chair Made From Carbon Fiber Developed by Formula 1 Engineers

The design world might not have heard of Hypetex yet but they’re about to. Hypetex is the world’s first colored carbon fiber brand that was developed by Formula One engineers. Carbon fiber isn’t new but Hypetex is, and after seven long years of research and development, the material is now available in a wide array of colors and can be molded into just about any shape or form. With that being said, Hypetex is now making their way into design with a lightweight lounge chair, named Halo, designed by furniture designer Michael Sodeau.

Halo is produced entirely of Hypetex and was designed to make the most of the new composite material. The large circular back is connected to the back legs by thin supports, keeping the design relatively simple looking and making it look as if it’s floating.

The thin, wing-shaped seat is supported by three legs balancing out the overall design.
