That’s a really nifty idea, but if the soap dissolves readily, then the bowl of pieces could quickly be cosmetically ruined, and if the soap does not readily dissolve, then I wouldn’t expect it to work well as soap.
I suppose that one might put some out for guests, and later use the semi-dissolved, stuck-together bits where looks didn’t matter, but the whole process could still be relatively expensive.
