A Chic Hotel With Quintessential British Charm

The_Laslett_Exterior

We all have that one friend who seems effortlessly chic, has an impeccable eye for design and always knows the latest trend before it’s trending. Well if that friend lived in a home, it would probably resemble something like The Laslett Hotel, a boutique property belonging to the Living Rooms collective by founder Tracy Lowy (whom we’ve featured before!).

The Laslett, named after Rhaune Laslett, a local activitst and organizer of the original Notting Hill Festival, has 51 rooms spread across five interconnecting townhouses in the West London neighborhood.

The hotel was designed to combine the service of a hotel with the style, comfort, and space of a residential home (we always love that). Tom Bartlett of Waldo Works was appointed the task of designing the interiors and architecture of the hotel, while the guest rooms and public spaces were styled and given creative direction by Ben Kelway of Atlas Projects.

On site, the Henderson Bar and Coffee Shop/Library is open to all with an appetite for good food and good reads.

In the lobby boutique, you can find something to take home when you leave, like art prints and seasonal fashion pop-ups.

All of the spaces within The Laslett feature furnishings and design collaborations from British designers, creating a beautiful, design-forward ambiance. Pinch designed bespoke Imo benches for the end of guest beds, bedside tables, and lobby sofas.

Race Furniture provided Classic BA dining chairs and original Carnegie Chairs.

Nocturne Workshop designed a custom lighting collection of wall lights, desk and bedside lamps, and a standard lamp with a built-in table. (Bonus, you can purchase the Gil lamp to recreate a little piece of The Laslett in your own home.)

Art from British creatives like Barry Kamen, Tobby Mott, Barbara Hulanicki, and Brian David Stevens line the interiors of The Laslett. Other unique features that give the hotel that extra special touch include Penguin Classic books, full-size skincare products from Neal’s Yard, and vintage antiques from Jerome Dodd’s Les Couilles Du Chien shop.

Feeling thirsty or hungry? Specialty snacks and drinks in the rooms from local London shops like Workshop Coffee, Joe’s Tea Co., Sipsmith Gin, Press London Juices and Snowflake Ice Cream will satisfy your appetite. Cheeky Brit humor is also celebrated here, with quirky extras like Mrs Miller suspenders and stockings available for purchase.

The hotel also occasionally showcases pop-ups in collaboration with designers and artists in the West London and Notting Hill art scene. If you’re visiting this October, be sure to check out the antiques pop-up “Little Shop of Curiosities by Jerome Dodd” to see colorful art and antiques offerings.
