The Colors of Milliken Flooring

The Colors of Milliken Flooring

For this week’s installment of CMYLK, we’ve done something a little different. Instead of artwork and rooms, we've created Colourlovers palettes for three rugs from Spartanburg, South Carolina-based floor covering company Milliken. These abstract designs are works of art in and of themselves.

Hunter Gorham's Bright Travel Photography

Hunter Gorham's Bright Travel Photography

Photographer Hunter Gorham travels the world capturing the perfect 30 seconds of light on beaches, mountains, and deserts. He prints in large format on the heighest quality, pearlized paper making you feel like you stepped into a pristine forest, wandered among the ruins of Central America, or waded on the shores of an expansive sea. Most of all, we love the color. We've created Colourlovers palettes for three of his global works for this week's installment of CMYLK.

Erin Cooper's Abstract Paintings

Erin Cooper's Abstract Paintings

Artist Erin Cooper, who lives and works in Oklahoma City is a painter who also runs the graphic design studio CooperHouse with her husband Tim. She says of her artwork, "My paintings allow me to explore color combinations that I don’t always get to play with in the professional world." This week's CMYLK looks at three, alongside our custom-designed Colourlovers palettes.

Edgy Interiors by Stylist Katrine Martensen-Larsen

Edgy Interiors by Stylist Katrine Martensen-Larsen

When you see her work, you won't be surprised that stylist/designer Katrine Martensen-Larsen of KML Design is Danish, based out of Copenhagen. With white as her base, she adds bright shots of color to rooms, transforming them to light, airy, and in this case, wonderfully playful modern spaces. This Copenhagen flat is a Scandinavian riot, so to speak.

Abstract Art by Anne Harper

Abstract Art by Anne Harper

Anne Harper, who works out of Atlanta and New York and studied Design and Photography at the University of Miami, is an abstract painter and musician. This week, for CMYLK, we created Colourlovers palettes of works done in acrylics and mixed media on canvas, which were shown in a solo exhibition at the Arden Fritz Gallery in Miami earlier this year. The pieces are at once feminine and strong, and extremely appealing. Her new series, "Weighted," will be completed next summer.

Colorful Interior Design by Fawn Galli

Colorful Interior Design by Fawn Galli

This week's CMYLK finds us creating Colourlovers palettes all over New York City. The rooms were created by interior designer Fawn Galli, mingles the old and the new, vintage and contemporary. Although schooled in political science, following a stint at Christie's auction house in the European furniture department, Galli learned the design trade in positions at renown architecture and design firms of Robert A.M. Stern and Peter Marino. We love her style, especially the colors.

Smooth Palettes: Interior Photography by Toby Scott

Smooth Palettes: Interior Photography by Toby Scott

We mined Australian photographer Toby Scott's Tumblr portfolio for this weeks' CMYLK. His clean, fresh photographic style of contemporary interiors lent themselves perfectly to our Colourlovers palettes. Now only if we could climb inside the spaces, we'd be so happy.

The Nostalgic Art of Hollis Brown Thornton

The Nostalgic Art of Hollis Brown Thornton

South Carolina-based artist Hollis Brown Thornton brings us back to the '70s with his images of VHS tapes (Remember those? If not, we're way older than you!) For this week's CMYLK, we created Colourlovers palettes for a trio of his fun, colorful, and nostalgic works. The first piece is acrylic on canvas, and the other two are done in permanent marker on paper. Push play and let's go . . .

Apples and Honey - A Fall Harvest Color Palette

Apples and Honey - A Fall Harvest Color Palette

For this week’s CMYLK we’ve created a Colourlovers palette of classic autumnal hues, inspired by the Jewish Holidays. There's Rosh Hashana, during which one dips apples in honey for a sweet New Year, and also Sukkot, which celebrates the harvest. So although the leaves may not be turning just yet, fall is in the air.

Color Pop: Paul Kariouk's Architecture and Interiors

Color Pop: Paul Kariouk's Architecture and Interiors

The carefully chosen, rich hues that Ottawa-based architect Paul Kariouk uses in his work make quite an impact, though the actual number of colors is fairly limited. An aqua-tinged navy paired with an almost neon orange, bar red against the forest greens, and acid pink and green are all inspiring pairs. For CMYLK, using Colourlovers palette tool, we picked those out, and then filled in the blanks with the neutrals.
