Dakar SOW by SAOTA

SAOTA & Antoni Associates recently completed this large, luxury home in Dakar, Senegal.

Designed for a Senegalese businessman and his family, the home was built on the site of an old World War II bunker and on the edge of a cliff. SAOTA decided to keep some of the old bunker and use it to house an underground cinema that opens up into a water feature.

The L-shaped design is centered around the pool and the living and dining areas cantilever over the cliff so that the family can enjoy unmatched panoramic views of the Atlantic. I love the special features such as the hallway lighting (actually, the lighting in the whole house is very well executed), stainless steel and granite spiral staircase, floating stairs, and sculptural pool.
