Daniel Lefcourt

New York-based artist Daniel Lefcourt uses a variety of materials in his extensive body of work and seems to float between painting and sculpture. Overall his work has a monochromatic feel and is often repetitious, as seen with the repeating bands of black or raw MDF boards.

These monochromatic paintings have an almost concrete look to them. The process is complex and eventually achieved through the pouring of acrylic paint into molds and he describes it as “Paint cast into Painting.” The painting is then given a coat of oil paint where it “discloses the topography of the surface.”
