Muuto Nerd Chair

The all-wood Nerd chair, designed by David Geckeler, was the winner of the 2012 Muuto Talent Award, and is thus being produced by Muuto, the Copenhagen-based company known for cool, new Nordic designs. German-born Geckeler, who studied industrial design in Berlin and Copenhagen, focuses on furniture, interior, tableware, and lighting. His cites his driving principles, which are apparent in the Nerd, as “simplicity, detail-orientation, and a pinch of courageous design language.” He treats us to his process in this month’s Deconstruction.
