A Day in the Life of Hufft Projects

Hufft Projects is an architecture and design studio located in Kansas City, Missouri dedicated to designing modern and sustainable buildings. They also run Make Studios, which fabricates anything from buildings to furniture and sculpture. We’re excited to have Matthew Hufft, owner of Hufft Projects sharing his day here on Designer Dailies (our very first architect)!

Starting my day with my son, Rock. A little milk to get us going.

Off to work, first job site of the day.

Checking with Travis at the site; things are going well. Next stop, meeting with a landscape designer at a private residence to check on progress.

One of the buildings on the site – The Shed.

Getting shots of tile used in the residence to submit for an upcoming competition. Got the shot!

Made it to the office; time for desk work.

Blue and Coltrane take to their desks too – hard at work.

In the process of designing my own house at the moment – checking out some material palates.

Meeting with the guys in the shop – Hufft Project’s sister company, Make Studios. All is looking good and on schedule.

Mid-day break for Blue and Coltrane. Time for an afternoon boost – thank you Miele coffee machine!

Meet with Clay on Edwin Blue – our new outdoor furniture line launching this year – to check out potential upholstery samples for the cushions.

Afternoon meeting with clients – such an amazing project and clients, a private residence over looking Tablerock Lake. Thank you Morgan’s!

Attending a screening that evening at the rw/2 studios featuring a new project by our friends, the Wade Brothers.

Dinner with my wife, Jesse, after the screening at Po’s Dumpling House on 39th Street.

Closing my day with some reading before bed – a nightly ritual to unwind my mind from the day.

Thanks, Matthew!
