Chic & Basic Ramblas Hotel

Destination Design goes to Barcelona to check out the Chic & Basic Ramblas Hotel, designed last year by Barcelona-based La Grangja Design. The firm created an experience around the ’60s in Spain, matching the building’s 60’s vibe. With 97 rooms on six floors, the design is crisp and fresh, no-nonsense and comfortable. Using the doors of the rooms and exhibition panels, the hallway of each floor projects a specific aspect of those years: Culture and Society, Design Icons, Tourism, Advertising, Folklore, “Gauche Divine.” Let’s take a tour.

The reception desk is made of old suitcases – what a novel idea!
