Domino Book Giveway!
Look what I’ve got!!

The good people over at Simon & Schuster have offered TWO lucky Design Milk readers a copy of Domino: The Book of Decorating: A Room-by-Room Guide to Creating a Home That Makes You Happy. Many of us were devastated upon hearing the news of Domino Magazine’s demise. I have to say I am included in that many. I looked forward to my Domino every month, and had a difficult time reading the last issue knowing that would be it.
However, Domino can live on in this book and beyond! So, here are the rules:
Rules: Comment on this post with your decorating dilemma. We will randomly choose two winners. Contest runs 4/6/09 through 4/19/09 and winners will be contacted the week of 4/20/09.
Sorry, this giveaway has expired.

What a beautiful book. My house is a beautiful mess. Or maybe just a mess.
I have a small kitchen in a studio apartment. I need a small funky table, possibly that has a folding section. Cool, modern foldable chairs too!
Thanks Jaime
manky fresco wallpaper…too much of it…help me do something cool with it or cover it up before I start to rip it off piece by piece..there’s so much it would take a lifetime
I love Domino’s magazine and am super excited about their book! Whoo hoo!
Domino has always inspired me. The book could be a huge help with my back porch. It’s a small city porch, but has some cute rustic charm potential. In it’s current state though, it just looks run down.
We moved into a new house a few years ago and have been fighting a cramped living space every since. The whole house has always felt a little small, but the living rooms is especially difficult, because we like to have friends over often. I’ve tried a number of different things (added lighting, switched out rugs, changed window treatments), but it still feels cramped and dark. I’m positive Domino would have the answer. So sad they had to fold. :/
Thank you for the opportunity!
Thanks for this giveaway opportunity!
Our living room/dining room area has become a mishmash of \"post-collegiate, eclectic, Salvation Army chic\" due to combining our households and the multi-purpose nature of the space. I\’d love to work out a more cohesive, coherent configuration.

Our backyard! It slopes to the middle of the yard and it is terrible…
I just moved into an 1893 Victorian with two itty bitty closets in the entire house. So I need to create functional storage that doesn’t look like I live in a college dorm. Plus the whole house needs some colorful coats of paint!
Another Domino fan…
I’m renovating my 1940′s cottage on the cheap, replacing the beige and grey color scheme. I’m currently working on the kitchen: the burned-out fluorescent light needs to go and I need an idea for the backsplash.
I have a HUGE decorating dilemma. I want my home to reflect my tastes (artsy-fartsy, Anthropologie-esque, mod, boho, hippie), but it also has to be kid friendly. I have a three-year-old, a two-year-old, and a one-year-old, and they always seem to be on a \"seek and destroy\" mission. I have resigned myself to having this horrible surburban nightmare until my kids leave for college, because I can\’t see any other way out of it.

I need help with furniture placement.
That will be an interesting book!
I have one problem I cant solve. How can I put a tv inside a cupboard and still roll/pull.. it out so that not only farsighted people can watch tv in my livingroom.
My problem is making a design statement in my bedroom at home that has plenty of storage and includes some pieces I can take with me to college. I will be returning here every vacation and various weekends, and it would be nice to have a cool place to be the rest of this summer and whenever I come back home. But I also need some basic but interesting things to take with me to college, like storage systems, lighting, etc.
I am moving into a new apartment (my first time to not have roommates!) and it’s kind of old and quirky. The room shapes are a little funky, and it’s my very first time to get to decorate my living space all to my own taste! I would love to have a road map as to how to tackle this new exciting problem
I am yet another apartment dweller in need of help. My problem is color. All of my walls are white and I don’t what colors to pick to make everything tie together.
My bedroom is a challenging shape… converted 3rd floor not planned well. Some vaulted ceilings, some crazy pitches, an overall bizarre shape and big… trying to anchor furniture and bring it all together is a huge pain. I know some colour will helpe, but which of the crazy walls? And why? Aaah!
I have a really small kitchen and need more storage ideas. Have thought of putting shelves inside the cabinets to make more room or something like that but need some inspiration. Also want to redo ugly tile floor.
Really need some help with our master bedroom. Aside from the *horrible* floral border it is essentially a blank canvas. We have a giant Cal King bed for my 6’7″ husband and not too much more space in the room. I need some serious help and inspiration with this one.
I just need help with all of the finishing touches that make a room feel comfortable. That and art on the walls, I never know what to do with large blank walls…
I need to learn how to mix patterns & textures when decorating.
I have big space in my living room and have a terrible time arranging my furniture to make it a livable space. Either it’s too open or too cramped.
What do you do when you live in a 120 year old building, a murphy bed was gutted out, and your kitchen sink and cabinets were put in its place? I don’t know! The kitchen is the biggest problem. Aside from the murphy bed/kitchen sink, there’s a hot water heater in one corner and a crazy angle to deal with. Poor kitchen. . .it needs help.
PICK MEEE!!! I need help with making the room in my shared apartment my own on a budget without disturbing natural wall color ect.
Just moved from a 100 year old house to a 40 year old house. Now I’m left trying to make my furniture fit or blend in. Quite a decorating challenge.
I love this book!
the bedroom is getting made up once it gets warmand we can have the windows open
:: raising my hand :: ME ME ME!!!
My walls are ridiculously empty and need HELP! I need an extra dose of inspiration! PRONTO!
What do I do with my very dark wooden dining room?
I just bought a one-and-a-half bungalow. The master’s bedroom is upstairs and has extremely low dormered ceilings (my boyfriend who is 6’3 wouldn’t be able to jump or skip without hitting his head). Wondering if there’s a way to give the room a sense of height. Thanks ?
I just moved in to an apartment with two bay windows (sounds nice) but they each have five oddly sized windows. I need to have privacy but I need it to look…better. And I will miss Domino.
design dilemma: dinner table. looking for one that could be folded away or one that has additional leaves. no drop-leaf table though and not an ugly one either.
I have that age old problem of the “back bedroom” blahs! The room needs to be both a computer room and a guest bedroom and it’s crammed to the gills! I need some great storage solutions for small spaces and a way to make it a space I want to go to and get some work done…as well as a luxe inviting space for guests on a budget. Thanks for this awesome giveaway! I love Domino magazine…I’m sure this book is great!
This would be so helpful for us…we have a 200 sq. ft. tiny house and we need to finish the interior. I have so many ideas, but I would like to find a cohesive strategy to maximize the space we have and still look cool. Thanks for the chance!
My little living room’s been functioning solely as an office for a few years now. I live alone, the TV’s in the bedroom, and I’ve never had much of a need for a public seating area. Lately, though, partially through boredom and partially through a recent increase in entertaining, I’m trying to figure out how to turn the space into something more dual-purpose. I’m most likely going to build a desk that can fulfill my need for lots of workspace, but that’s leaving me with a rather awkward area in which to build the seating area. I need inspiration, stat.
I live in a condo designed in the late 80s with very little character. It needs some real help since we can’t move anytime soon with the real estate market the way it is. This book would be a true inspiration.
Cheers!
My biggest decorating dilemma is getting my fiance to let me take down all of his framed posters! They hold special meaning to him, I know, but ahhh
My decorating dilemma is my husband. I constantly hear crashing and cussing, only to walk in and find something broken and my husband grumbling that vases are not necessary. Or that the wreath on the door is too noisy. Or that there\’s too many books in the bookcase and not enough room for his xBox. etc etc. I wish there was something to help me with HIM. LOL
My living room is long and narrow, and I can’t figure out how to arrange the furniture so the TV is not the center focus, and yet let me watch TV from a comfortable angle.
I am devestated that Domino is gone, and just like the economy has taken a toll on this magazine, it has also taken a toll on my budget. So now for the dilemma, I am graduating from college (now) and am moving to a new city besides my moving expenses I will also have decorating ones, cause who wants to live in a boring space? So please pick me!
I live in a rental where painting or any other permanent changes are an option. I need to find interesting ways to work with a less-than-inspired 1980s kitchen featuring ratty cabinets and linoleum flooring.
Completely bare walls!!…Having lots of trouble finding things or thinking of creative ways to fill all the blank space.
Thanks for doing a giveaway! I have a living room with a loft area and am having trouble thinking about sound issues. (a Wii system upstairs for the kids and the big sound system downstairs for the husband.) It is a rental, so nothing permanent.
My current decorating dilemma is moving into a much larger home and not having the budget to decorate this space. It will BYOC (bring your own chair) when you come to visit me ; ) I am full of ideas for this great new home, but my wallet does not match my taste.
My dilemma is that I own a lifestyle block and guess what’s always last on the menu? Exactly! The interiors. As an interior stylist this is beyond the beyonds! (You have no idea) So, as we now decided to extend the kitchen and change the rooms’functions I can do with sensible fun inspiration and guidance! I live in new Zealand.
i bedroom is like a dungeon . its creepy just walking into it. mverno@roadrunner.com
my problem is that everything i see in this book and on this blog is too awesome. my house is therefore way too cluttered and i am broke as a result.
We have extended our house, and I am now totally stumped as to how to decorate our big living/kitchen area….aaarrgghhh HELPPPP!
My daughter just bought her first house-a fixer upper so she has lots of dilemmas and I’m sure this book would give her some great ideas.
lack of money and lack of space. i have a 700sqft 2-bedroom condo that has a distinct lack of storage and a layout that wastes more space than golf courses.
