Donkey Kong Inspired Wall Shelving by Igor Chak

Los Angeles-based designer Igor Chak was inspired by the video game Donkey Kong when he designed these 8-bit wall shelves that resemble the game’s levels.

Chak explains, “I started to wonder… what happens to all those video game props when games become old….do they get stored away in a digital world or do they fade away with time? The famous steel beams from Donkey Kong have served their time but I could not pass by such an ingenious design…”

Made of individual sections of carbon fiber, anodized aluminum pixels joined with steel rods, the shelf tops are made of heavy-duty glass. Strong enough to hold up to 60lbs, the shelves would work for most of our lightweight electronics, a few books and knick knacks.

I’d pair this with the giant working NES controller coffee table and these Donkey Kong wall decals.
