Stuffing for the turkey – one side of the pan with sausage, the other with oysters, so everyone can get their favorite. Plus green bean casserole with french fried onions (I double up on the onions). Plus baked sweet potatoes (like regular baked potatoes – no marshmallows for me!). Plus real croissants.
The day before is pie day. The turkey gets done on the grill because there is no room in my small oven. So I hope to win this one!!!

Sweet potatoes, in a so-far-successful attempt to prove a fine souffle or even mashed and molasses-fied is better than slicing them and tossing in mini-marshmallows.
I can respect some people love them, and their mother/grandmother made her own marshmallows out of sugar she picked… so do what you like. But i will continue to prove my point to anyone interested.

Two faves: Prime rib roast (the original Roast Beast) with appropriate side dishes, and/or Baumkuchen, a traditional Austrian cake made by broiling one thin layer of batter after another until you run out of batter, with layers of apricot preserves in between every other layer and a coating of chocolate and ground pistachios.

fresh cranberry sauce — cranberries, sugar, water. done. seriously. we grew up with cranberry sauce from a can and when i learned how to do it fresh i flipped out. you can do all sorts of sage-infused stuffings, golden chantrelle gravies and three-way mashed potatoes — let them spin out of their orbits. but anchor them, yes, anchor them with simple, straight, delicious cranberry sauce…

Lefse and baked cranberry sauce! Lefse is Norwegian flatbread that my Nana taught me to make, and cranberry because they are tart and plentiful during the fall season, similar to the traditional lingonberry. As the granddaughter of Norwegian immigrants, Nana always liked to keep the family traditions alive, and I continue to make these dishes because it is associated with memories of her and is a delicious tradition that I hope to keep up as I start a family.

The signature holiday dish I love preparing for family and friends is roasted pears. I top they with blue cheese and cinnamon. It’s a really easy-to-make dish. They make a good appetizer or a dessert. Practically speaking though, when I make them, they vanish quickly, before dinner, so I consider them more of an appetizer.

Corn Casserole Souffle, my family and friends request this year round, everyone looks forward to it- when I started taking it for Scout cookouts, other Mom’s have tried desperately to one-up this one, yet- mine is always the empty one to carry home (which is how I measure success or failure, because I don’t wanna eat it next week or toss it- so, it has to be EMPTY to win!)

I have lots of dishes my family love, however I just like Tuesday’s dinners. Every Tuesday is Try-It Tuesday. We ask a family member, friend, or whoever to give us an ingredient for our dinner. We then base our dinner off that ingredient. We have come up with some great dishes throughout the months we have been doing this.

One thing I love making for my family every year on both Xmas and Thanksgiving is this weird pie I make. It doesn’t even have a name. It has a a graham cracker crust, the bottom layer is pumpkin pie , a top layer of cheesecake, and on top of that I take pecans crush them up and add some condensed milk and other things.. It makes a version nice version of pecan pie on the top. Would love to win this I love to bake and the current oven I have well it is just not that great. Thanks for hosting good luck all
