FIN Stacking Tea Cups by Hsin Lin

For her thesis at Parsons The New School for Design, Product Design student Hsin Lin created a set of functional stacking teacups.

She says that FIN is a contemporary design aimed at revolutionizing the ancient ceremony of tea drinking. She explains that traditionally, cups and saucers are stacked separately, eliminating the need for a saucer in today’s modern tea-drinking world. However, she designed FIN so that everything stacks together an the saucer then becomes an important part of the process again.

The unity of the cup and saucer will help our generation appreciate the ceremonial significance behind a simple cup of tea.
