Fresh Perspectives: V

Last week, I shared a project from Lexus called Fresh Perspectives in which six artists create works in 24 hours based on the themes of Challenge, Empower, and Escape. Now it’s time to take a closer look at each artist and get a feel for their art forms, inspiration and technique.

V is Veronika Bozeman is a gifted singer and artist who pushes the boundaries of songwriting and performing.

You have a beautiful voice. When did you first discover that you had this gift?

Thank you…When I first discovered That I could sing, well… I honestly couldn’t tell you because I don’t remember not ever being able to sing. LOL

How and when did you get the nickname “V”?

When I got this nickname “V” I was in high school and although I love my government name “Veronika.” My friends just naturally started calling me “V” and it just stuck ever since. I actually love it because it seems endearing and it seems to make people feel just a little closer to me. And I like that.

How did you meet Timothy Bloom?

I met Timothy Bloom about six years ago in Atlanta.

Who came up with the concept for the Timothy Bloom video? Were you apprehensive about it?

The person that came up with the video concept was Timothy Bloom. And as far as being apprehensive, in the beginning… I was. But at the end of the day I trust Timothy Bloom and I understood his vision very clearly. Also I am an artist and I think a big part of being an artist is being able to be vulnerable in the name of the music and also being comfortable with yourself at the same time.

What are you working on right now?

What I’m working on now is actually my project. Timothy Bloom is co-executive producing the music and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to work on my first album with someone I’m so connected to musically. Timothy Bloom is my musical soulmate and it couldn’t get better than this.

How did you get involved with Fresh Perspectives? Why did you decide to become involved in Fresh Perspectives?

This great opportunity came by way of my management team. We sent in my music and profile and it took off from there. I decided to be apart of the Fresh Perspectives campaign because I thought it was a great opportunity and outlet to tell my story and showcase my art. I love the Lexus brand, Microsoft is such a huge quality brand and my Mom’s computer home page is MSN…LOL! Not to mention so many of my friends have Xbox…I knew it would be cool!!

What was the most challenging part of creating a piece of work in 24 hours?

The most challenging part of coming up with a piece of art in 24 hours is basically allowing your mind to be free and focusing at the same time. It’s an art just to be able to do that. But once those juices start rolling, that’s the part I live for.

If you could collaborate with one of the other Fresh Perspectives artists, who would it be and why?

If I could choose any one of the artist from Fresh Perspectives it would be the photographer. I love when a photographer can capture the true essence of a person. One of Billy Holiday’s best moment is being captured on stage in her element, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald. I would like some body to capture that in me too… Yeah.

Design Milk has partnered with Lexus on Fresh Perspectives, a series that highlights work by six artists from different disciplines. Each artist created two pieces of art based on three themes — Challenge, Empower, and Escape — and each piece was made within 24 hours. Thanks to Lexus, this project not only supports art but also helps support Design Milk’s efforts to promote emerging artists.
