Friday Five with Rossella Bisazza

This week’s Friday Five explores the mind of Rossella Bisazza, the Communication Director of Bisazza, the industry’s leading brand of luxury glass mosaic tile (previous posts). For her, Bisazza isn’t just a job, it’s working for and with the family company that her father, Renato Bisazza, founded in 1956 in Alte (Vicenza). Before joining the company in 2002, she worked at the Teatro alla Scala (one of her picks!) in Milan in the press office. After that run, Rossella headed to familiar turf to work with the family where she also facilitates relationships and special projects with top designers around the world. In 2012, the company started the Bisazza Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to architecture and design, for which Rossella is the Vice President. Let’s take a look at the five elegant and artful selections that she chose.

1. Eames Lounge Chair
A great design classic that combines unparalleled comfort and timeless style. The Eames Lounge also brings back fond memories for me: it was my mother’s armchair in our family home.

2. Abu Simbel Temple in Egypt
An architectural work of unparalleled beauty and full of spirituality, this temple exemplifies the artistry of mankind at its pinnacle. Visiting Abu Simbel was one of the most moving experiences of my life.

3. Il Teatro alla Scala di Milano
Il Teatro alla Scala is considered the “temple of the Opera” and for me it’s the most beautiful theater in the world. At seven, I saw a performance of “Aida” by Verdi at La Scala and I fell in love with opera. When the curtain rises in that theatre, it’s pure magic! I regularly go there to see opera and ballet shows. It’s almost my second home.

4. The National Bardo Museum
I recently visited this museum in Tunisia, which houses an impressive collection of the finest Roman mosaics. For the beauty and richness of the works on display, is definitely worth the trip – a must see.

5. Valentino evening dresses
Evening dresses by Valentino have always made me dream; the designs have a timeless elegance that masterfully enhances the feminine form. I wore a Valentino dress for the opening night at La Scala last year. The color… red, of course.
