Friday Five with ACME Studio

Founded in Los Angeles in 1985 by husband-and-wife team Adrian Olabuenaga and Lesley Bailey, ACME Studio made its first appearance with a limited-edition collection of jewelry designed by Peter Shire, the LA-based member of the world-renowned Memphis Group. Since then, ACME has presented many collections of jewelry, writing tools, men’s accessories, and small leather goods, including designed by globally recognized designers, artists and architects. Their newest collection includes pieces designed especially for them by Charles and Ray Eames and Hariri & Hariri.

1. Ettore Sottsass
Ettore Sottsass first designed jewelry for us and became one of our biggest advocates. Then he designed our house and we became great friends. He has, and will always inspire us… all of us.

2. Our Designers
Over the past 26 years, we have worked with some of the world’s best designers, architects and artists and all of them have inspired us in their own way. Our designers inspire us.

3. Music
Aside from our obvious passion for design, we also have an intense passion for music. Recently, we began a project with legendary Jazz-Rock musicians John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. They inspire us.

4. Our House
Our house inspires us.

5. Maui Sunsets
A Maui sunset, any Maui sunset inspires us.
