Friday Five with Bradford Shellhammer

Bradford Shellhammer, he in the purple pants, is Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Fab.com, the flash site favored by those who demand clean and colorful contemporary design. Shellhammer, grew up in Baltimore and attended Goucher College there prior to moving to New York City to study  fashion at Parsons The New School for Design. A burgeoning interest in interior design led him to launching retail concepts for Blu Dot and Design Within Reach. In addition to helping head Fab, Shellhammer, contributes to Sundance Channel, Full Frontal Fashion, and Dwell. His homes have been featured in The New York Times and Dwell. He owns 137 pairs of shoes, has a weakness for paisley, all things Eames, and Scandinavian electro-pop. He reveals a few other inspirations here, in this week’s Friday Five.

1. Carin Goldberg
Iconic graphic designer who designed Madonna’s first album cover, book jackets, and even better posters. I am blessed she’s become a friend.

2. AMAC Boxes
Made since the ’60s I have too many of these which is fine, as I have too many things to fill them in!

3. Sole Bikes
Finally a fun and affordable bike. I don’t even care if I never even ride it. It looks great in my apartment. I chose tangerine.

4. Chisholm Larsson Gallery
My favorite store in NYC. I just snatched up a giant poster for Grace Jones’ Island Life. Because everyone’s home should have Grace Jones life size in it.

5. Lana Del Rey
I know, I know she’s everywhere. And I know she’s taken a lot of hits in the media. But her somber trip-pop album coupled with her bee-stung lips and classic coif, god, does she inspire me. Best thing to happen in music in a long, long time.
