Friday Five with Gilt Home

The following post was sponsored by Gilt Groupe. Our sponsors are hand-picked by the Design Milk team because they represent the best in design.

Gilt Groupe was started by long time friends Alexis and Alexandra three years ago. Gilt Groupe provides invitation-only access to designer wares including home decor and entertaining essentials at up to 70% off. Design Milk readers are invited to join via a special link: http://bit.ly/GHinvite.

Our five favorite things of the moment:

1. New York City
We’re partial to New York City as it’s where Gilt Groupe is headquartered. However, the reason we continue our love affair with this city is because of its fabulous events and exhibits, exquisite eats and for ladies — ample shopping and pampering offerings. Some of our recent NYC musts include a visit to the Vintage Jewelry exhibit at the National Jewelry Institute, a date night at Kyotofu, cocktails at the Empire Room and a trip to Oscar Blandi Salon for a celebrity-worthy blowout. Granted, not everyone has the luxury of living in NYC, so we’re offering the chance to win the ultimate getaway to our favorite city: http://on.fb.me/NYGetaway.

2. Insider access
One of our goals is to bring insider design world access to our members. Normally, only industry professionals can shop the 100 furniture and textile showrooms of Manhattan’s New York Design Center. But now you can courtesy of Access to Design, an 8-week series of thematic events on Gilt Home. Each is curated by top interior talent including Jason Oliver Nixon, John Loecke, 2Michaels and Kirsten Brant and features wares from brands that call NYDC home including John Houshmand, Roubini, Baker, and Grange. It’s a design goldmine.

3. Connecting with you
We’re loving hosting live chats on Facebook and Tweetchats on twitter with partners including Thom Filicia from Queer Eye and Real Simple editor Kelley Carter. It’s a great way to get to know our members better and to pick up some holiday décor tips.

4. Holiday trends
We love the holiday décor trends from SheKnows, especially decorating with natural elements, vintage pieces, and rich textures. We put together a lovely Christmas Shop for tomorrow featuring these elements, including Hello!Lucky’s vintage-style letter-pressed cards, Barreveld’s etched-glass ornaments, wreaths from The Magnolia Company, holiday-themed dinnerware from Iittala, Arcadia Home’s bejeweled snowflakes, and Judy Ross’ stunning Christmas stockings. You’re sure to check off your whole list.

5. Holiday specials
Gilt has deals every day, so for Black Friday we wanted to offer a steal! Today on Facebook we are having a “demand your special” poll where you get to vote on one of three items (Chilewich Dots Placemat Set, Kate Spade 2010/2011 Personal Agenda or a Michael Aram Impala Platter) to receive a special price on Monday that you’ve never seen before. Also, if you happen to spend $50 today or tomorrow with Gilt Groupe, shipping on Monday is free!
