Friday Five with Kenneth Brown and a Giveaway!

Friday Five with Kenneth Brown and a Giveaway!

One of Los Angeles’ most sought-after interior designers, Kenneth Brown has long been acclaimed for his ability to blend warm Southern hospitality with clean Southern California lines. His design firm is ever expanding and works with high-profile clients such as Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Mia Hamm. His firm is also working on larger scale hospitality projects. His work has been featured in numerous design publications, as well as on his two hit TV shows, HGTV and Fine Living Network’s “reDesign” and TLC’s “Over Designed.” 2009 saw the debut of Kenneth Brown’s Design Directions for QVC featuring a variety of luxe linens and decorative room accents created especially for QVC. The success has led Kenneth to expand upon the collection and offerings.

This year Kenneth will be expanding his infant bedding and accessories line. Inspired by the birth of his first daughter, the line combines Kenneth’s trademark sophistication, with a softer aesthetic that captures the elements of a custom designed nursery. Look for his nursery line, Jumping for Joy, coming this month to Babies R Us stores nationwide.

Kenneth is generously offering a lucky Design Milk reader a 5-Piece Bedding Jumping for Joy Set including comforter, 4-piece bumper, crib sheet, crib ruffle and storage box. See below for more details about the giveaway.

Here are five things that inspire Kenneth:

1. Ceilings are often the most overlooked and under designed surface in any room. I am a fan of using textured wall covering or larger scale prints to enhance a rooms design.

2. I am tired of the over use of recessed lighting and prefer lamp lighting for adding a bespoke look, like this one from Sundance.

3. A new wood finish I am using more of is sandblasted oak in a natural color. Restoration Hardware has done a great job of introducing this finish for use in bathrooms.

4. I always introduce color in my designs through artwork. I have always been a fan of Sarah Stockstill’s large abstract pieces.

5. Animal prints come and go and are back again and the timeless leopard designed by Stark always adds a nice element of surprise to any room’s design.

The bedding is adorable. It’s so refreshing! The ensemble doesn’t screem “I a girl” or “I’m a boy”!

Love any animal print as an accent! No new bundle of joy arriving in the family though.

  13. My husband & I found out we are expecting our first child! We are due July 15th. Plans & ideas have been flowing through my mind since day one & I have been pondering making my own bedding to save on cost….but after seeing my curtains…let’s just say I should stick to what I do best which isn’t sewing. I’m a designer for a gallery & LOVE watching & reading inspirations from Kenneth Brown! This bedding is fantastic! It’s so light, airy, fresh & gender neutral. I’m a huge fan of textures & layering. This bedding would be so sweet in our babies nursery & how awesome would it be to have the bragging rights of winning something designed by Kenneth Brown. Ooo, I’m excited,I hope I’m the random winner… :)

I enjoyed looking at Kenneth Browns Blog he has some really cool ideas. My older kids would probably like me to make that detergent bottle light. This baby bedding set looks so peaceful, calm and inviting. I like that it is not busy and crowded. Its a style that can go with many different colors and blend well
