Friday Five with Marco Beghin of Moleskine

Marco Beghin is the President of Moleskine America, Inc. in the United States. Originally from Italy, with a business and marketing education at Bocconi University in Milan, Marco started his career by immersing himself in international travel as a sales manager. After moving to New York in 1997 and working for forward thinking companies in the design and consumer products industries, Marco made the move to Moleskine in 2005. Initially he was a consultant for the Custom Editions and Publishing division and then established the North American office in 2008. Based in the Chelsea Gallery District, Moleskine America, Inc. has made tremendous advances under Marco’s creative vision and astute business sense.

In his free-time, Marco exhibits an arduous zest for life in the pursuit of his many creative and competitive endeavors. He possesses a deep appreciation for design, photography and cooking and is an avid marathon runner. He is profoundly affected by the beauty and solitude of nature and often escapes to his house in the Berkshires to find rejuvenation and serenity.

Here are Marco’s five faves:

1. Brooks Racer ST 4 Shoe (yellow)
I just discovered these shoes and love running in them. They are light and allow me to feel the terrain. I just did my first race in them at NYRR Ted Corbitt 15K.

2. Being home
I have a home in upstate NY. It rejuvenates me to be near nature…to fill my eyes with green instead of buildings.

3. Esperanza Spalding
She is a jazz vocalist and my new discovery. She is a contemporary classic.

4. Sushi @ EN Japanese Brasserie
I love raw fish. It feels so light and clean. EN is the best.

5. Ocean Sea by Alessandro Baricco
A beautiful story where everything happens by the sea. The ocean is a place for inspiration, and healing. I absolutely love it.
