Minjae Lee is a young South Korean artist whose work is filled with powerful colors, aggressive scenes, and a clever blend of beauty, innocence, and fragility. A self-taught artist, Lee uses old-fashioned tools, such as markers, pens, crayons, and acrylics, to create his illustrations. Let’s see what inspires him for today’s Friday Five.

1.COPIC
There are so many companies that make materials for artists. My favorite is COPIC. I’ve been using these marker pens for 10 years. I know they are kinda expensive, but I I think it is worth it. I can’t forget the first day that I used a Copic marker for my art. I was so impressed by the color it produced. They are still the best for me.

I’ve always been a lover of nature – it gives me a lot of inspiration, especially the flowers. They each have many different kinds of color, always in the perfect balance.

4. Canon 5D Mark II
I’ve been using DSLR for shooting my art/nature for 8 years. DSLR cameras keep getting better and better. Now I’m using the Canon 5D Mark II. Its easier to use then other DSLR and the video recording is really clear and good. I’m not a professional photographer, so I don’t need much. I can work with the 5D Mark II easily, which is why I love it.

5. HTC One X
My first smartphone was Desire from HTC and now I’m using One X from HTC. I know many people using Apple or Samsung’s phone, but I just love the HTC design. I don’t use my phone that much, so the design is the most important thing to me when I buy my phone. :)
