Fun House: Apartment in Juan-les-Pins by UdA Architetti

How do you make multiple people happy (and create a little privacy) in a tiny seaside apartment? You enlist people like UdA Architetti to configure the space to make a large living room with a kitchen, two separate bedrooms that face the ocean, a bathroom, plus a place for laundry, and you have Fun House, an apartment in Juan-les-Pins, France.

Instead of just building some boring walls in the space, they used construction kits to make the bedrooms within the living space – creating a room within a room. Pretty smart option, especially for people that might be renting a space and aren’t allowed to make permanent structural changes.

The colors are consistent throughout the interior, using lots of deep blues and beige-y sands, much like you’d find at the beach. They also threw in other pops of color, like the red dining table.

The construction kits allow for temporary structures to go up within larger spaces to create any kind of room you want – in this case, two bedrooms. It also allows for storage closets to be built-in.

I love how the bedrooms are raised from the actual apartment floor, making it a bit cozier.

By not building solid walls in the apartment and keeping the “walls” from going to the ceiling, it makes the small home well-lit throughout. They draped thin, white fabric across the beams to make it feel more like a private room.

They even incorporated bookshelves into the bedroom kit. Oh look, there’s a Victor Vetterlein Trash Me Lamp on the floor – awesome!

The blue continues through to the kitchen cabinets making everything seem cohesive.
