Holiday Wishlist: Katie

We don’t do traditional gift guides here on Design Milk because everyone does them; we like to be different. A few years back, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season. So, for the next two weeks we’re featuring staff wishlists — see them all here. Here are some items on Katie’s wishlist:

Holiday Wishlist: Katie

1. Scholten & Baijings tea towels for Hay
I am besotted with Scholten & Baijings for Hay and to be honest would be delighted to discover anything from them in my stocking – these gorgeous tea towels are a pretty good place to start.

2. Herbert Yellow Patterned Tray
This one is riddled with confessions – sometimes, just sometimes, I eat my dinner on my knee in front of the TV. And worse than that, I don’t own any trays, so at the moment I balance my plate on a chopping board! So, two of these should at least rectify the latter if not the former!

3. Eames Plastic Armchair
No dream wish list would be complete without the Eames RAR. There is a corner of my living room just waiting for it! One day!

4. Alvey Blue Patterned Cushion
Having moved house almost two years ago, and finished all the structural work and painting and decorating about a year, I’d lost momentum a bit, so I’m determined to use the holidays as an opportunity to start adding what my interior designer friend Daisy calls the “sprinkles” – the things that add color and personality and make you smile.

I love these cushions from Habitat. Our guest room is the most finished of all the rooms in the house, and two of these for the bed are just the finishing touch it needs.

5. Eames House Bird
I love these little birds, originally used for styling Eames chair shoots. Just what my mid-century inspired living room needs.

6. Marimekko In Good Company Teapot
I seem to have accidentally started collecting tea pots. A simple Linda Bloomfield one led to a vintage Festival of Britain one, which led to inheriting one from my Grandparents, and before you know it… well, in for a penny, in for a pound!

7. Kenwood Toaster
More color for the kitchen in the shape of this gorgeous blue Kenwood toaster. We already have a bright red kettle, so we’ll have a veritable rainbow going on in there by the time I’m done!

8. Delonghi Coffee Machine
I ‘need’ a coffee machine, this is not a ‘want’ situation – and I ‘need’ this bright yellow one from Delonghi! Hopefully it will help to wake me up in the dark winter mornings, as well adding a ray of sunshine to our kitchen.
