Horizontal Frames by 10¹² TERRA

Horizontal Frames is a minimalist design created by Japan-based company 10¹² TERRA. The name of the brand was inspired by the number of cells that plants produce in a day: ten to the twelfth power, which equates to one trillion. The “Terra” portion refers to the objects itself, an herbal enclosure called a terrarium. The designer wanted to create an ever-changing and growing display, a living picture frame.

The products are all completely handmade, and will slightly vary from one another. For the Horizontal Frame, plants can be placed in between the glass inserts, and appear as though they are floating. The designer encourages users to decorate the inside with fallen leaves, flower petals, or even photos. There are currently a number of variations and sizes including three different square sizes, as well as six varying rectangular sizes.

The product can come either free-standing or in a mounted variation where there are two holes placed at the top corners of the frame. The frames start at approximately $100 USD without shipping included. Although a bit expensive, I definitely see some value given the fact that each piece is handmade. These frames would go perfectly inside any of the minimalist houses I have written about.
