Hailing from Mexico, Esrawe Studio recently launched a collection of limited edition pieces called HOST. Presented at this year’s Zona Maco 2014, a Latin American contemporary art fair, the collection includes three designs that are based on the act of inhabiting.
First up is OCD (OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER), a table that is meant to hold all the items you use on a daily basis. The objects are placed within individual trays and describe the habits and preferences of each user, helping to reflect on their own identity. The pieces are made of brass or metal with electrostatic paint.
Dermal is a series of hand blown glass objects with wooden inserts that mimic subcutaneous implants that are inserted under the skin as a decorative element. Their purpose is to modify and alter the body’s expression, “turning it into an inhabitant of itself.” Designed for Nouvel Studio.
Balanza is a sculptural object that displays a balanced relationship. The glass is formed to the brass structure that holds each one in place. Also designed for Nouvel Studio.
