Multiplication 1, 2012, 40″ x 30″ x 1.5″, Collage and acrylic paint on birch
Vancouver, British Columbia based artist Jessica Bell has a series, entitled Housing Estate, in which she works in collage and incorporates textiles and paint on birch. The mixture of various mediums is quite beautiful, very abstract and organic. The layers of paint and textiles create depth and rich texture. Notice the house-like shapes in the work? I like how there’s just a subtle reference to them.
