How High the Moon chair by Shiro Kuramata is certainly an interesting one. It doesn’t look all that comfortable — I imagine you’d put some sort of pad on it. I don’t know — has anyone ever sat on one of these? Is it comfortable? That model sure looks comfy…

I saw this chair in the V&A Design Museum in London a few months ago… Don’t know if it’s currently in production.

It is still in production. Made by Vitra.

The model looks comfy, but can you imagine the marks she’s going to have from the metal? It’d be like sitting on bare wicker. Un-comfy.

It IS comfortable without any pad unless you are nude. Specially suited for big sized people.
The other effect is that people have a better look when they sit on it.

Part of this chair’s appeal is that it is far more comfortable than it looks. This chair has been on the top of my fantasy wishlist for years. It’s so sculptural and with light behind it or reflecting off it, the appearance is magical.
I think anyone who owns this chair would use it as an art piece that you can sit on for short periods with reasonable comfort. I doubt anyone who buys this chair intends to use it for long-term sitting or lounging – which was never its purpose to begin with.
That said, if you use a pillow on the seat, it’s actually very comfortable, since the back has a gentle curve with no hard corners.

I sat on this chair. It is surprisingly comfortable. It is also smaller-scale than it looks. I own the miniature version, and I hope to get the real one soon. It is one of the most poetic pieces of furniture in production.
