Hudson Valley Country House by Fractal Construction

Located in Cold Spring, NY, the Hudson Valley Country House was designed by the New York City-based studio of Fractal Construction. Completed in 2011, the family weekend retreat was built from prefabricated pieces and assembled onsite. The exterior is covered in wood panels that give the modern design a rustic look. The house is made up of two buildings connected by a bridge that’s a piece of art all on its own.

The main house consists of three floors: a to-die-for first level, main floor with a kitchen, dining, and living area, and the third floor that houses the bedrooms. The second structure has a garage, a yoga/meditation room and a large terrace.

The ground floor has to be one of the coolest I’ve seen with an indoor pool, playroom, office, and wine cellar. The pool overlooks the wooded property that it sits on, viewed through the long wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. The pool can also be opened up or closed off to the rest of the space with folding doors that separate the space. The skylights and large windows throughout the house keep it light filled and give the homeowners the nature views they were looking for.

I believe the hanging nets are Tears of The Fisherman light sculptures by Ingo Maurer. WOW.
