IKEA has released a new book called Homemade is Best, created by design agency Forsman & Bodenfors. Inside the book are 30 classic Swedish baking recipes for everything from small biscuits to large cakes — all using pictures. Inspired by high fashion and Japanese minimalism, the 140-page book is stylized with the ingredients getting just as much attention as the end result. Very interesting and eyecandy-licious (and delicious too, I’m sure!).

Putting as much focus on the ingredient makes it more interesting. And it’s easier to decide which recipe to cook. Instead of spending time reading the ingredient list, you just have to glance at the picture. I wonder what the white creamy looking ingredient is in the first 2 recipes above.

This recipe book might just be the thing for me as I am not a great reader. Laying the ingredients out makes it a lot quicker and easier to assemble what you need, maybe a kid would be able to use this book too as well as the rest of the family who may have been reluctant to help around the house in the first place. As they say,”pictures speak a thousand words”. The book design itself also reflects Ikea’s design philosophy of reaching the masses and simple design.Guess where I am heading today? Best designed cookbook I have ever seen. Period.
