OH MAN. shoot. i love this. i haven’t liked something this much since the time that i was travelling in a fishing boat off the southern coast of the Tioman islands. I remember it vividly. I jumped off the side of the boat in attempts to cool off. as soon as i hit the water, i realized that i had never swam before. although i debated the issue until i was blue in the face, i realized in a single moment that my sister had been right all along, a bath taker and a swimmer are, in fact, two very different things. my bath taker skills were failing me. bubble blowing, styling george washington hair and turning faucet knobs with my toes were apparently of no value in the fight against malaysian currents. every bath i ever took flashed through my mind as i began to sink. once under the water i opened my eyes and found myself looking into the face of a giant squid. just before the malaysian fishman pulled me up to safety. the squid winked at me. and THAT wink was the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. this, however, comes seriously close.
